An old favorite of mine. Honestly, I had to watch it again tonight to get the taste of ten minutes of the series out of my mouth. Who does irony like John Cusack? (Not Zoe Kravitz.) Funny, twisty, and quick on its feet, not to mention the nightmare sight of Katherine Zeta-Jones swaying across the living snapping her fingers with both hands simultaneously. Ewwww! High Fidelity is a great piece of work.
A total stinker, and not because of the budget or its age. For a while I thought I was watching some weird version of "Upstairs, Downstairs". Then it was endless repetition of meaningless threats, and finally 10 minutes of action, (and I have to admit a zinger at the end.) There was maybe a half-hour's worth of television in there. And the dialogue (was it dialogue?). It would have been better if they'd played the whole thing in charades. It would have been better if distributors had turned Romero down. Sheesh.
