I thought this was a great film all around. Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen both nailed their parts. It did a great job of being a movie about solving a murder as much as being a movie about clashing cultures and personal growth. The plot of the myster, Olsen's character's journey, and Renner's character's journey all have equal measure of importance and weight, interconnected through the back drop of a cold bitter western land in a culturally aching native community. I loved the credence given to the Native culture and struggles. It was not overdone - just right. My only issue is that I think this movie could have used an extra 20 minutes for plot development.Without spoiling the mystery - as we close in on the murder being answered, all of the sudden we're given a flashback to the events leading up to it and then a huge (impressive and tantalizing but again sudden) stand off gun battle. If there could have been just a little more of a journey leading to the actual realization of the murder plot then I would have given this movie 5 stars. Plus, with the subtle nuances of the way this movie moves forward, it could have been better services with just a little more time to breathe. Great movie overall though.
