Some truly great episodes burdened by some not so great ones and a couple of terrible ones. I love David Tennant as 10 but the chemistry and friendship between 9 and Rose suffered in this one with Roses attitude of basically obsessing over this Doctor and to hell with everything else, which was sad to see. Doomsday is a great episode because they handled both the Daleks and Cyberman brilliantly.
I gave this series a shot. I really did. I wanted to love it. I have absolutely loved every series/seasons of DW, through the highs and lows. They have all felt like DW. What was even this series, honestly? And they just wipe off the whole of UNIT to take a swipe at some political current event? Horribly written and acted, l think that this is is it for me and this iteration of the show. Thank heavens that I still have the previous 54 years, Big Finish, books and comics. Bye, bye Chibttaker Who.
I watched this because of David Tennant. I wish that I hadnt. Mindless story. unlikeable characters, dull and silly dialogue. David was the least dislikeable character but even he could not save this mess. I will wait to watch him in Good Omens, instead.
I enjoyed this. I miss Capaldi as the Doctor. My only wish is that they hadnt gone overboard with making the 1st Doctor sexist as a way to make way for a female Doctor. I also wish that 12 hadnt regenerated but thats just my wishful thinking.
One of my favorite Christmas specials. Both funny and heartbreaking. Capaldi and Kingston had amazing chemistry. I just love watching and rewatching this one.
A great series. The kids loved this grumpy iteration of the Doctor and I just enjoyed the exploration of what it meant for the Doctor to be a good man. He was seemingly cold and uncaring at the beginning but bit by bit and through Capaldis great acting the caring and compassionate side of the Doctor came through. Jenna also grew as Clara and her character was challenged in a way that hadnt happened before. Mummy On The Orient Express and Flatline are highlights. I hope that Jamie Mathieson continues to write in the future for DW (or at least have a shot at show runner)
Quite possibly, my favorite series of NuWho. Peter Capaldi just rocks (literally) as the Doctor. A fantastic actor. I enjoyed the first two episodes and my kids did, too. We just love Dalek stories. Heaven Sent, omg, just is great television. Even Sleep No More, I appreciated it more on repeat viewings. Hell Bent confused me at first but now I adore that episode and it was a fitting conclusion to Claras story. I honestly wish that we had had more seasons with Capaldi but definitely not under the current showrunner.
I dont get why this series doesnt get enough love. I enjoyed the dynamic between the Doctor, Bill and Nardole. The only episode that I felt somewhat let down by was The lLie of the Land, with 12 acting ooc and the unsatisfying conclusion to the Monk Trilogy. Capaldi is amazing as always. To me, he is the best actor to play the Doctor in Nuwho. And Missy is fantastic. I love Michelle Gomez. I needed a series with just the Missy and 12 and Nardole just interacting. Big Finish please give me, The Vault Years.
An utter disappointment. As a woman, I was surprised to see the 2000 year old first female Doctor acting like an overenthusiastic child as her main character trait. I think that Jodie was miscast for the role. Another, more experienced actress who maybe had some idea about the show before would have been a better choice. No real authority or gravitas to her performance. Just a copy of the Tennant and Smith Doctors at their most childlike with no clear personality of her own. As for the writing....dear heavens, where to start? I have fallen asleep and checked my phone more during this series than, well, ever while watching this show. The Doctor is portrayed as perfect, the companions are just there, the villains lackluster, the stories themselves are just boring and bland. I think that the character that I mostly enjoyed was Graham and maybe Ryan at times. I would have loved it that instead of Yaz, you would have had Grace as a permanent companion. But even then, the writing would have dragged her character down too. Idk, I feel sad that my favorite show is a shadow of its former self in just one series. I wont be buying this dvd set for sure and I certainly wont watch series 12 with this same crew. I know that the Daleks are coming back in the New Years special but I shudder to think how they will be portrayed. I guess Chibnall did decide to go with the classic monsters after so vehemently saying that he would not bring them back. But I guess desperate measures have to be talked to save this mess.
