Joyless, inauthentic, Self-serving. This movie does not seem to understand its raison d'être... and neither do I. There is no joy in watching this adaptation. It's intense, which is what attracted me to this version, but it's obvious from the ending, that this movie does not understand the message of Charles Dicken's masterpiece. Watch any other version, instead.
this Was a very solid movie. I thought that the acting was well done. The pacing was very good. I think it was a wise decision not to try to replicate Queens music, but to use the actual tracks, instead. I was disappointed with all the liberties the script took as far as the historical account is concerned. I understand the need for a well focused narrative that comes to a climax at the end of the film, but the twisting of historical events were somewhat problematic for me. However, itâ(TM)s a far better film than the Tomatoe-meter suggests. As is typical, lately, on RottenTomatoe, the audience scores gives one a better guide to this movie than the so-called experts.
