A movie about toxic femininity.
Of the superhero fare, it's pretty good. I just don't think it's 5 stars good.
I think you need to be Chinese to get this movie. After watching it, I felt that if this is a representation of China's production, the US has nothing to worry about.
This movie was lambasted for its use of a white guy in what should have been an Asian role, but it was terrible for a whole host of other reasons. I have to imagine that this movie was made for a Chinese audience and that their tastes are just different than the North American audience's because this was the most horrible big budget movie I've ever seen. Seriously, the worst.
Great movie with only one major problem. Mere mortals cannot hold the infinity stones in their hands. Kindof goes against the ending of Guardians of the Galaxy, but I wouldn't quibble too hard with geeky little details like that.
An interesting allegory about the lies of social justice and the need for knowledge and honesty, no matter how uncomfortable.
Very true to the book, which was a masterpiece.
The fact that this movie did so well opposite Alita Battle Angel at the box office is a testament to the marketing power of Disney, not the quality of the films. I long for the days when the third film of a series of cartoons was straight to dvd or streaming.
Simply the best comic book adaptation ever.
Bring water because you'll need to re-hydrate after all the crying you'll do in the first act of this one.
I liked it, but felt like an intellectual fraud for doing so. In the end, the movie was about an indigenous servant who learned that she was as much a part of the family that employed her as the other members of that family. Nobody seems to make the connection to Cleo and the dog or the unsettling ownership the family had over her. Anyway, I liked it, but I'm sure lots of people liked it because it was black and white, subtitled and appealed to their sense of intellectual superiority.
A movie about an outlier case in which a white guy receives a disproportionate sentence; however, if you can get away from the race politics, it really portrays how crime and the treatment of the public by the police is a class issue. this movie is too real for the average viewer, or bourgeois review to appreciate.
Upon rewatching this 15 years later, I realize just how sophomoric the material really was. Really appeals to my pretentious earlier self.
A movie about how the news is about ratings and even the fabrication of the truth. All that and boredom as well.
A great social commentary about hypergamy and the devastating effect of murdering unborn children without the father's consent. Ultimately, Susan is an every woman and Tony is the death of masculinity. Its only failure is its banality.
Commentary on art, artists and critics. You really have to have a degree in criticism and have a superiority complex to enjoy this one. I would have really loved it as a sophomore, but alas, I grew up.
I expected to hate this movie, but I gotta say, it was better than any other Spiderman movie I've seen. Just don't go see it if you're prone to seizures.
I'm forced to watch this every Christmas with my wife, so this review is my middle finger to that tradition.
It's good, but when the main hook of the movie is also an inconsistency of the time travel genre it tested my ability to believe the material.
