I actually enjoyed this movie, it had RDJ's touch which reminded me of his Sherlock Holmes character. Plus it had a little nostalgia factor since Dr.Doolittle was big in my youth, I remember seeing the original (1967) Dr.Doolittle movie which was created before I was born. And I watched it every time it played on tv. I so wanted to be Dr. Doolittle it wasn't even funny. Alright, enough with the mushy nostalgia and back to this version with RDJ. I thought it hit the mark, was entertaining, made you feel as to how awesome it would be if able to talk to every animal on the planet. RDJ was great as Dr. Doolittle and made this movie his own. It awaken the kid in me who wished he was a veterinarian, instead I settled with being a Canine Master- Instructor for about 30 yrs give or take a few either way. So of course a Dr. Doolittle movie would hit close to home. This is a family movie that you really want your young kids to watch, it might just sway them in a certain direction that would have them work with animals in the future. Being in the field for a few decades, I've rarely seen someone that was working with animals as a career be unhappy at their job. Except when you have to tell someone that their family member (pet/partner) passed away or that he's in pain and nothing can be done and should be euthanized and so on (no one wants to be the bearer of such bad news).
Back to Dr. Doolittle, it's worth to make it a night out with the kids because they'll love it and so will you.
"I actually didn't dislike it as much as critics and youtubers were raving I would/should.
Yeah it's totally woke and not just due to a mostly female cast that often doesn't make sense but more so by killing off the most important character in "John Connor" within the first few mins of the movie. They killed a young John Connor at the very beginning of the movie in order to change the lead male character to a new female lead character, total woke gender swap to pander to SJW's. That's lazy story telling and writing in the way they did it. They just wanted to kill off the male character in order to introduce a new female lead character. And it was done very poorly and in the first few mins of the movie. They went completely and totally WOKE as early as possible to leave nothing of the male character that was John's character. Which was supposedly the most important male character in T1, T2 and T3.
But the entertainment value itself makes it worth watching. And the casting of a latino male terminator makes perfect sense, since his target lives in a mainly tight latino community. So, bottom line this is a movie which you should make your own mind up, rather than listening to critics, both professional critics and viewer critics. Is it as good as T-1 and T-2 nope not at all but it's better than the other ones in the franchise so this one is definitely not the worse and quite watchable.
On youtube, someone replied and said that Terminator went "Woke" in 1984 and I replied with the following...
I wouldn't say woke per say but rather led by a bad ass female character in Sarah Connor. Which proves that you don't need all the "woke" bs that is about "gender and political identity" shoved down our throats. We've had many female actresses who portrayed huge female lead characters, which would take too long to enumerate in a list. These female characters were bad asses all on their own without the need for Hollywood to grand stand and make it more about inclusiveness, political and gender identity, sexual orientation and so on and so forth. We've gotten many female actresses/characters that stood on their own and were fluid in their roles as amazing bad asses characters without the push that is now behind all new remake/reboots of female/characters led franchises. All Hollywood had to do was, to follow what was proven to work when you had a female led movie (if it ain't broken then no need to fix it). Hollywood has lost all imagination, originality and creativity due to those facts, which is the "why" that they make so many remakes/reboots because they have lost all originality and prefer to reboot successful and proven franchises and their already proven characters which is why these movies were great all on their own without shoving any gender and political agendas down our throats. Now Hollywood remakes and reboots of already existing great characters. Some go as far as changing male led characters to female characters for the purpose of pandering to the SJW's and going full woke, even telling us 40+ year old white men that their movies aren't made for us and we're just misogynist haters and should stay away from these movies because they weren't made for us. NEWSFLASH Hollywood: It's us 40+ yr old men the Gen X's that have kept comic books and pre existing movies alive for the last 5 decades and you just tossing us aside like we were not relevant and no longer matter comes at a hefty price (Terminator Dark Fate is perfect example) as the reason why it's doing so poorly at the box office. Many new movies that were reboots/remakes have proven that fact. "Go WOKE then go "BROKE" which Star Wars is about to prove yet again.
The Generation X is the main audience of movie goers for reboots of movies and characters. We're also the ones with huge comic books collection hidden in our basements and we're also still the ones buying new and old(highly collectible) comic books to add to our already great collections. We're also the ones showing our kids the movies we saw as kids when their age and also taking our kids to the movie theaters to see those reboot movies with the changes made to the main characters as when we ourselves were their ages. Except now many reboots switch what were main led male characters now changed to female characters in order to pander to the SJW's that don't even buy movie tickets, comic books and all other forms of collectibles items/merchandise and so on and so forth.
Hollywood either changes the pre existing male characters or kills them off in new sequels so that they can put in new characters that are females.
So Hollywood and all Studios, keep going woke and see what happens to your gross in regards to these new woke movies, keep doing what you're doing and you'll see that the saying "Go woke, go broke" is a lot more than just a saying, it's truth and you'll lose millions till you wake the f*ck up and understand the mistakes of going WOKE! (GhostBusters 2016 anyone!?!)
Keep tossing us Gen X's aside and even going further by telling us straight up to not go see your movies and see what happens when an entire generation says "Ok, I'll do as you ask and not see your movies". The Gen X's and older Millennial's are the ones who kept decades of movies/comic books alive, continue disrespecting, insulting us and see where things go at the box office! I dare Disney/MCU to make another "Captain Marvel" stand alone movie and see how it does at the box office without having a Juggernaut of a Marvel movie opening up just a month later and let's see how it does on it's own.
You want more movies with females/LGBTQ lead characters, then create new movies based on new stories, new arc's, new origins and go all out as much as you want. But leave our pre existing movies/franchises and original characters alone. Just freakin create new ones for what you consider the next demographic you're aiming to get.
I finally got around to watching this movie and am sure glad I did. I am usually very critical of anything Warner/DCEU material for reasons that would take too long to enumerate. I also don't rely on any "TOMATOMETER CRITICS" ever. Basically, if critics on the Tomatometer say a movie/tv show is bad, that usually means the movie/tv show is good if not great and vice versa, if the tomatometer critics say a movie is good, it usually means it's a bad movie/tv show. Therefore I don't rely on critics if they are not from independent normal viewers like little ole me. Any ways, back to the "Joker", Warner/DCEU hit it out of the ball park. All thanks to whom ever decided to cast Phoenix for the role of "Joker". Joaquin absolutely kills it as the Joker, I mean after watching this movie, I can't see anyone else play the Joker after this. Phoenix takes it to a completely next level acting wise. His performance combined with great writing/story telling takes us on an amazing origin story of just how the Joker came to be. The entire movie is about developing the DC character that is the "JOKER", which would usually bother me because the usual origin and development stories take too much time out of the movie. But this one is all about the deep origin of the Joker and shows so many issues that made him who he is and his disconnection with reality and how the darkness within him came to be. Bottom line, the "JOKER" is a must see DCEU movie and if you read any of my critics, you'll see I am very harsh in my critics and only recommend movies/tv shows only if I am absolutely certain it's a winner or a loser. This one is a WINNER period!!
Worth spending your money at the theater for sure. On another quick note, this movie proves you don't need a $200 + million dollar budget or over produced CGI and most of all, any political/gender identity agendas to make such a movie successful.
Final note: And the Oscar for best actor in a leading role goes to.... Joaquin Phoenix !!
