loved it when it first came out probably because i was a lot younger but watching it again its more of a movie you will enjoy a lot if you get high and have the giggles, it has its moments and its not a terrible film. something i will watch once every few years or so if im in the mood with nothing to do.
the only thing i liked was its impeccable retro production. the acting was god awful with a mediocre script. I can't believe this has the upper hand on reviews considering how bad it was. terrible voice overs, makeup and cast. It's a pity, I really wanted to like this.
its more like a tradition/homage to the 90s one than anything but more gruesome. I have read the book and I love the 90s film, this movie was more like a "morphed" version of the origional but kept in key parts. some scenes were unrealistic and cheesey, who opens their back pack into the bin together like that and dumps every single item into the trash? yet no one else around them is doing that, it sounds like a starter clip in a pokemon game or something. The performance from the kids was "okay" some better than others. Bill skarsgard was amazing, he was the PERFECT fit for this role, his eerie features through the makeup and performance were really well done.I do not belive the cgi ruined the movie, it's on of the many differences from the origional which relied heavily on makeup. I understand people are upset it is far from the book but you need to see that this is what happens with remakes, they usually go from the first film and do what they want with it or what they think will make it more appealing to the audience, it's not always going to be the cookie cut version that you want, i'm just happy the story was brought to the limelight again into another generation of viewers
its "alright" quality but sonny should have let other people help him with the writing and editing instead of doing it all on his own, direction was on the lower end of mediocre, chers first movie, shes so young here and a good actress, this isnt a bad film imo, but it could have been better in the right hands.
i remember watching this when it first realeased and a few times through my teen years and watching it again just now i feel the same way about it, a humble story that you feel warm about, nice little plot, good dialogue and direction, britney spears and taryn manning in a film together is personal gold for me. i feel like people say britney is a bad actress simply because shes britney... which is a common thing for music artists in a film career. same goes for actors in the music industry, maybe if you pulled your head out of the sand for a second you would see shes not bad at all, actually WATCH her with a clear mind, forget about britney and only see lucy.. the character.
