If it wasn't for the slow start, and spending a little too long establishing that Joe is a selfish jerk (Okay we get it already) then this could be a truly great movie. It's not without it's heartwarming moments and gave me a few decent laughs, you just have to struggle through the first half and you will come out the end smiling.
It was a rather forgettable affair. The first film was almost great, it was just missing that little something, and in this film, not only did they not find it, they lost just that little more. The social ineptitude of Holmes in the first film felt like a obstacle to be overcome, but this one just has him looking like an outright jerk, making it hard to be invested in his antics. You just feel sorry for Watson. The final confrontation was interesting and well directed, but by that point in the film it is quite hard to drag yourself out of the boredom educed stupor that has overcome you.
A decent follow up to the first one, delving deeper into the characters and their bonds. Full of heart and charm. It is often hard to pay attention to the other characters with Toothless stealing the show with his antics in the background. Not quite on the same level as the first, but takes a beloved film an turns it into a beloved franchise.
Hands down the best Dragon Ball Z film to date (I still have the rest to watch chronologically). Characters aren't forced to hold back due to badly written villains, and the plot is simplistic but we don't go in to these looking for complicated story lines. It is like a condensed version of the Freiza saga, taking the things that made that saga so memorable and delivering a faster paced revisit for fan service.
A bit of a slow start leads to plenty of action and a worthy finale to the original trilogy of star wars films. Its hard not to remember the associated memes as each classic line is delivered, but they are only poked fun at because they are so iconic. There is a reason that they keep making Star Wars films, people want space battles, speeder-bike chases, lightsaber duels, blaster fights and all that jazz, and this one delivers it all.
