First of all, kudos to the effects that made the effort for a CGI-heavy sequal to one of my childhood movies..the original Fung Wan (1998). And kudos to the weapons maker, the costume department and the main team of Aaron & Ekin. But THAT'S ALL the credit I can give. I have absolutely NO praise whatsoever for the script. I MEAN WHAT HAPPENED?! ZERO character development, rushed scenes, no build-up tension like the first movie, no sense of substance for the plot, and the whole thing seemed so rushed and there was no narrative back story of who some of the characters were. Moreover, MANY of the characters seemed to have been thrown in just for the sake of it without any proper storyline and fundamental base for the story. First and foremost, Cloud has lost much of his brooding quality and seemed more like a kid being thrown into the streets to fend for himself. And the short attempt at romance between Cloud and Muse was utterly needless...I pity the cast who had to go through such a pathetic script and yet they did their best to follow it to the letter. It is sad to see how low and wanting the current state of cinema is...hardly or no substance in storyline, no proper character development...all seemed rushed for the sake of datelines and pesky studio agents breathing down the crew's neck...I wish this would be rebooted in a way because sad to say, even though it's nothing more than eye candy for some cool fight scenes and CGI-loaded effects, it should be given the respect and honour it deserves for its legacy of awesome comics and classic art of martial arts and swordplay. A series would have been better than a cramped up movie.
