The show was pretty good, particularly the Poltergeist episode, however, the short run time doesn't allow for a deeper dive into events that transpired. It wants to do too many things & it makes for garbled, clunky viewing at times. I think that the time wasted on that cringy douche-bag satanist or the furniture salesman turned exorcist would have been better spent analyzing the films & interviewing people who were actually involved with the production or had something valuable to add.
I didn't learn anything new, but I did have a tear in my eye at times. The Twilight zone was tragic, but it was down to hubris - it didn't seem to fit with the "cursed" theme. Anyway, I hope they can come back with another season that's tighter, no filler & a slightly longer episode run time.
I loved this how when it first aired, although this season was far from my favourite. However, after rewatching, I have come to the conclusion that this season was in fact, utter garbage.
I enjoyed the deep colour palette & art direction of the first two seasons but this one takes the cake - they linger excessively on shots of food, or blood or whatever, seemingly to pad the run time. The story lags & the characters lacklustre, it was a grind just to get to the end of the season.
The acting from Dolarhyde is over the top, incredibly distracting & grating (speaking of grating - the voice of the woman who plays will's wife is like nails down a chalkboard)...although I still find him preferable to abigail & margot.
I enjoyed the philosophical musings & esoteric, flowery language of the first two seasons, however this season took pretension to a whole new level.
If I rewatch in the future, I'll just stop after season 2.
Not even worth the half star.
Granted, I havent really kept up with it since David Tenent left but I caught an episode the other night and oh, what a complete wreck it has become. I'd have found more intellectual stimulation on the CBeebies channel; talk about infantilizing your audience. What a complete farce. And the new Doctor sucks, nothing to do with her gender, everything to do with her lack of charisma.
I'm not a huge Dylan McDermott fan, I find him kind of petty and annoying in this, but maybe thats the point - but his voice grates on me. Other than that the cast is amazing, every story-line is compelling & there are a few surprises too. Worth re-watching!
Brilliant season! I particularly enjoyed the Bloody Face story-line, Zachary Q played a great part. Yeah, go watch it if you haven't already! It's great!
Great season, great cast & fun to watch & great to look at!
I love that they draw from the history of New Orleans & Salem & blend it, love that spooky sh*t!
Star taken off for Stevie Nick's awful performance, the cheesy montage to 'Seven Wonders' & Lily Rabe's Bad acting when she faints upon meeting Stevie - I cringe every time I see it.
An extra star given for Evan Peters performance, I'd have liked to have seen more of him in this season. I feel like with it being the first season without Jessica Lange, they tried too hard. Also, that weird thing that "drills", was just plain disturbing!
This was awful. There was not one character that I found likable and I really didn't enjoy the format of talking heads. It was a real grind to get to the end (I watched out of habit). All filler, no killer - I will never re-watch this season.
This has been my favorite season since Coven! AHS was beginning to take itself a little to seriously and I'd had enough of Sarah Paulson's wailing. This had a great cast with some desperately needed new blood & it was just plain fun to watch! It hearkens back to 80s camp slashers, a simpler time, the golden days of yore - it has all the nostalgic feels. Side note, who knew a mustache could be so hot!
I absolutely loved the show! I'm a fan of the book, so I was apprehensive, but they really did manage to do justice to the source material!
Great casting on all fronts, just a truly enjoyable show!
Watched the first two episodes, seen enough. Life is too short to watch bad tv!
I was so bored that I gave up after the third episode. The acting is over the top and ham-fisted - the cursing sounds forced, and what is with the race baiting? I wish these show runners would keep their lopsided, white-man-bad politics out of their shows, we get enough of that on the news.
Hard pass, none of the atmosphere and charm of the first season, and certainly not the same caliber of acting!
As a huge fan of the original Twin Peaks, I waited for this season with excitement and impatience. Unfortunately, the excitement abated, but the impatience did not. This was weird for weird's sake, incoherent babbling and at times just plain cringe inducing. I loved the strange elements of the original, how nothing had to make sense but was still engrossing. This was a slog to get through, I can't help but think it would have been better to just leave Twin Peaks in the 90s, shrouded in mystery and nostalgia.
Great show, I couldn't turn it off! Great viewing for cold nights!
I was not a fan of the Irish story-line that took the club to Belfast, it was dreary and boring - they messed with that awesome theme song and WTF is with Jimmy's Irish accent? My ears almost bled every-time he opened his gub!
This season did, however, have one of the most satisfying last episodes that I have ever seen! It deserves 5 stars for that episode alone, but I'm deducting one for the shenanigans!
