I think this was the first time I've ever walked to the cinema with a feeling of dread. After TLJ and the way RJ cr@pped all over beloved childhood heroes I wasn't sure I wanted to hand over my cash for Disney to do it all over again. While the movie had some flaws, I am much happier with the treatment of the characters than previously. Far from perfect, but well done JJ for recovering the series from the TLJ garbage. My favourite parts were when Luke told Ray that tossing away a lightsabre was no way to treat it and when he raised the XWing out of the sea and smiled right at the camera - that was an F.U. RJ for sure. So phew, pretty much well done - 7-8 out of 10 considering the start point was quite an achievement.
