Let's start out with the "wonderful" acting by Kristen Stewart. She has the emotional range of a piece of wood and doesn't convey any emotion throughout the movie. Now let's talk about the problematic male protagonist who spend the majority of the movie salivating over a young girl's blood like an fcking mosquito. The derivative story is quite awful, and definitely shows a failure of adapting the book. In addition, the odd message it conveys is quite problematic considering their target audience.
This is one of the shittiest homophobic movies I've ever watched. First off Taylor us one of the most unlikeable protagonists of all time, she's a perfect example of writers trying to make a character "relatable" then making her a basic white straight pretty girl. In addition the scene where she downplays the gay guy's issues made me want to punch her. Visually the movie is very unappealing, with most of it feeling drab and boring. The weird editing combined with the shaky camerawork made me wanna hurl. Lastly, that scene, THE SCENE. The scene where Taylor can't get the top off is....funny. I know that's a terrible thing to say, but it's true. The way they wrote and shot the scene makes it come off as comical rather than serious. The acting was alright but nothing special. Lastly, let's talk about the terrible message it sends kids. This movie should've been about raising awareness for cyber bullying and teaching kids to be safe online, instead, it's just anti technology propaganda. Instead of creating a strong message of being careful, it's just saying "technology bad" In conclusion an absolutely TERRIBLE movie.
