I give director Dieterle credit for trying to create something different. The atmosphere and look of the film is unusual. Unfortunately, the script is very weak and the acting us subpar (with the exception of Edward Arnold).
There is plenty of action and gun play, and Idris Elba and LaKeith Stanfield are excellent in their respective roles. However, I can't bring myself to recommend it. As an action/revenge flick it works fine, but as a western it just doesn't cut it. It feels like a group of characters from the 21st century were plopped down into the 19th century American west. It ruins it for me when period movies are so inauthentic, despite any other attributes they may have.
