RATING: A+ Director: Luca Guadagnino
Call Me by Your Name is a coming of age Drama set in the 80s in northern Italy. Timothée Chalamet is brilliant in this film and I think this was his star turn, I mean what he does with his face during the long take in the end is nothing but Astonishing. Armie Hammer is great as well as is the rest of the Cast. And man that Cinematography though, it's so good and Guadagnino really knows how to handle a camera. I could go on but I choose not to.
RATING: C Director: Ben Winston
Friends: The Reunion really is something for the fans of the show and nothing more. Sure it is funny at times but I would've appreciated it way more if they would've done more of the Making of part like the interview bits with the creators, that was interesting. Especially Lisa Kudrow, though, easily puts on her part again as you'll see in the table reads. But it sure is entertaining to hear about those Behind the Scenes stories from the Cast itself.
RATING: C- Director: Letizia Lamartire
Baggio: The Divine Ponytail is a Biopic about the legendary soccer player and his journey. There really isn't that much to write about this particular film. The lead and the rest of the Cast are all doing what they are able to do. The biggest problem with the film is definitely its Screenplay and even its running time ( which is with around 1h30min not that long for an Biopic ). I didn't really knew much about this person before and so I gained a bit of knowledge by reading about him and they really let a ton of stuff out of the film.
RATING: B+ Director: Mel Gibson
Hacksaw Ridge is simultaneously a War Epic as well as a heroic Biopic and of some sorts even a love story. Andrew Garfield really plays this real life war hero exceptionally well and the supporting cast is rather impressive as well. I personally am not the biggest fan of Blockbusters but man does Mel Gibson know how to properly direct one. The film's Cinematography as well as the Screenplay are well crafted too.
RATING: B Director: Zack Snyder
Army Of The Dead is a high adrenaline ride through the Zombie genre with what might be the coolest and strongest Zombies ever. It certainly is a sympathetic cast and Snyder achieves that you actually care about his characters at a certain point. The Screenplay is bumpy at times but I never expected a great Screenplay from an Zack Snyder film. Snyder also serves as his own DP for the first time ( Feature wise ) which doesn't always goes as great as he probably hoped it would be. Though I still gotta say this is the best Snyder film.
