How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014)
An excellent sequel to the masterpiece that was the first movie. The animation has greatly improved and looks stunning, the soundtrack is just as spine-chilling, the first 10 minutes do a great job in establishing how Berk has changed in the last 5 years, Stoick's death was incredibly dark and emotional, especially since he sacrificed himself for Hiccup, I love his interactions with Valka and that song and their reunion are some of the best scenes in the trilogy, the universe gets expanded with the introduction to the Alpha dragon and it takes a darker tone and develops the character and themes pretty well. I have some issues however with the characters. Valka is just forgotten in the 3rd act and I feel like her coming back to Berk should have been impactful, Drago just stands around and yells and is just forgettable, the teenage vikings are so unfunny and annoying, Astrid is kind of out of character with her being reckless and her and the teenage vikings don't receive any consequences for them leading Drago and his army to where Hiccup as it was their fault. Even Toothless is just a side character until the 3rd act. These flaws however don't ruin the movie and is still a great sequel despite being the weakest of this phenomenal trilogy.

Jurassic World (2015)
Ok, let's start with the flaws first. First, it lacks the suspense, excitement and heart of the original Jurassic Park with bland characters with little background that's only saved by the performances, it doesn't try anything new, the romance between Owen and Claire was so forced and it's a story we already saw in the original movie but despite that, this movie is fun. The CGI is surprisingly wonderful and it delivers all the fun dinosaur action I want especially the finale and it was great seeing so many dinosaurs compared to the original since the technology increased. I loved the design of Jurassic World, it has many gruesome deaths, the actors are having a lot of fun and have great dyanmics, especially the brothers and who does not love Chris Pratt? It's overall not as good as the original at all but it's what I want in a fun blockbuster.

Holy crap, this film is outstanding! This franchise takes another large step forward with this movie. Easily the best part about the movie is the Burj Khalifa climbing sequence, probably the best sequence of the franchise. The fact that Tom Cruise did it alone is super impressive and this sequence is just so exciting, so suspenseful and makes you invested and that's where the film excels. In every situation, you feel invested becaude there are so many moments where the team itself almost fails or it looks like something bad will happen, especially in the final battle where the nuclear bomb almost explodes in America. The tension is made super clear. There's really amazing action in the movie with the prison escape, final battle, Kremlin attack and the chase in Dubai. It can be really funny and the characters have great dynamics and I love how Brandt's origin ties with Ethan, a true shocker. I do think the Mumbai Party was a bit tonally inappropriate given the context of the scene and the final battle is not as impressive as the Dubai sequence and damn the villains are so underdeveloped but regardless, what an amazing movie! Never stop making movies Brad Bird

Mission: Impossible III (2006)
A massive improvement over the second and the best of thr original 3 MI movies. As expected fom JJ Abrams, this is a really fast-paced movie that always has something going with with amazing action spaced throughout like the bridge scene, ending battle and Berlin scene that will leave you awe-struck with the amazing visuals and great editing. Philip Seymour Hoffman (RIP) plays a really menacing villain as well who's intimidating and will do anything to reach his goal and will not let Ethan's team stop him and the plane scene where Ethan threatens to drop him is a great example as well as the opening scene, a great piece of storytelling having that scene be a section of the later film. It's also cool exploring more of Ethan's personal life, making him feel more like an actual character. What stops this film from getting a higher score is it kind of plays safe. It doesn't bring anything new in terms of story or action, the fact we don't know what the rabbit foot is reduces a lot of tension and the fact we don't see the the Shanghai heist is really disappointing. Regardless, it's a great return to form for the franchise.

Nowhere near as good as the phenomenal first movie but it's still a good movie. Like the first movie, the visuals, costume, makeup and set designs are incredibly impressive, the acting is just as good, the film is honestly funnier than the first, it's a much darker and another intriguing storyline, the characters are just as great and have clear motivations and once again, we get amazing pirate action scenes especially with the Kraken and I love the ending where Sparrow comes back to ‘defeat' the Kraken. However, the execution of this movie kind of falls flat. There's so many character motivations that it is hard to keep up with them all at times, we don't see Davy Jones until an hour after the movie is over, the whole tribe scene was so tonally inappropriate, even if it was funny, but so useless to the story so that was a waste of 15 minutes and this film has the annoying tendency to not explain/show how characters get to certain places at times. Regardless, it's still a good movie that does a lot right but is nowhere near as good as the first.
