Captivating plot, phenomenal acting (especially by the main two), and compelling characters. The romances have depth and charisma and are easy to root for. The sex scenes are intimate, filmed beautifully, and very steamy.
I give it a glowing review! As someone who's favorite movie is the 2005 Pride and Prejudice, a period drama TV show like this is something I've always wanted, and am delighted to see. Bridgerton exceeded all my expectations, and I hope it continues!
The deliberately heavy-handed narration took me off guard at first, but it's clearly intentional and serves the overarching story.
I was shocked by some low ratings, and can only conclude (after reading far too many reviews) that the diversity of the cast is to blame. I wholeheartedly disagree with the assessment that the inclusion of actors of color reduces the quality in any way. Their performances are all stellar, they are all gorgeous, and their inclusion sets this period piece apart from others. Real history was diverse, and besides that, we suspend disbelief for all sorts of things in movies and shows like this. I see no reason for inclusive casting to not be among them (aside from racism, of course).
All in all, this show gets a 10/10 from me, and I hope there are many more seasons. I'm invested in the entire cast of characters, the aesthetic, the plot, and the little world this show has created, and I'm eager for more.
