It's a decent enough movie with some over acting and a "B" type setting. Thought I might have passed out during the movie due to the paranormal twist. Made me ask what did I miss. After that initial feeling passed its pretty predictable and easy enough to piece together the outcome. Decent special effects. Bullet thru the head was worth me sitting thru it alone. All in all not a must see but it was good to pass the time.
You have seen this movie before. It follows all of the standard action and plot sequences. Hired killer grows a conscious/gets reassigned to a baby-sitting role/mayhem ensues/killer saves the day, gets the girl and walks off into the sunset. IF you like John Cusack and/or Malin Akerman then you will enjoy this movie well enough. John's his fast talking mono toned persona I have grown to love and Malin is well, just stunning. It passed the time.
WOW, this movie is emotionally draining. NOT the feel good movie of the year, no matter how the ending is portrayed. First off Woody Harrelson was fantastic! Naomi Watts, very convincing. Brie Larson, wow she was really good, very emotional, very passionate, very real. After seeing her in that Marvel mess I didn't think she had any skills as an actress at all but, I was mistaken. She was great in this movie. Like stated above, it isn't a feel good kind of movie, no one will ever sit down and just try and enjoy this thing. With that said please do so! I never want to see it again but I am so glad I did. I do love a true story! I will purchase the book to see Hollywood liberties.
It's not going to win any awards. If you want to watch a mind numbing, plot knowing, semi decent, dare I say crime thriller. It definitely passed the time. This movie hit all the clichés. Rebellious teen, trying to make up for lost time father, crooked cops that are way too stupid to even be cops, and the ultimate baddie who in the end turns the other cheek. Then watch it.
I really wasn't convinced by any of the actors in any of their roles. I thought that most over acted and I believed the plot to be thin. A pathetic take on someone who obviously doesn't care for suburban life too much. Wildly fictitious and absurd neighbors play along with an even more absurd plot. Zero closer. Will never suffer thru again. It's a 1 and done
