RIP Sean. We miss you and you carried this action movie to what it has become to me and that is a cult classic. Some say in this you are actually 007 which I like to believe to make it even better. Cage does out in a great performance in this movie however he overshadowed but Sean and has to accept he's second best.
Overall its a cult classic and needs to be seen if you love action movies.
Simple review.. Astonishingly good for what it is, yes its a cheesy action movie with lines that make you puke on occasions however this has Nicholas Cage at his peak with him kicking major ass. His accent is horrific and it often makes you question what he's actually doing but if you can put that aside you have a pure classic. Action scenes amazing, acting amazing, star studded and has a kick ass guitar riff.
Overall I love this movie and if you love action movies you need this in you're collection.
Simple review here.... Great classic that you can watch over and over again! perfect for those rainy boring nights where you just want to switch off and watch Stallone climb stuff and murder easy lines. This will forever hold a place in my heart and if you haven't seen it yet please give it ago if you love 90's action movies.
This movie is so bad that it actually becomes comedy gold. I love shark movies and they always make me feel slightly on edge however this movie had me laughing my butt off! The end sequence was just epic and honestly worth watching just for this moment. Watching the MEG devour poor beach goers was hilarious, my personal favourite kill was when a guy was running inside a giant bubble zorb.. on the water.. over children..whilst the Meg chases him! honestly it had me in stitches and to top it off when it catches him it makes a pop sound effect and it ended me.
Overall the film has a big budget with a mediocre script and a Jason just there for the cheque, if you like Sharknado this may be for you on comedy alone.
Watching this movie back again recently with the Blu ray remaster was beautiful yet it had me wishing for the gritty VHS edition.
As you would expect with a blu ray remaster it will
Have all the bells and whistles to blow you away. Yes, it has lots bright colours clear scenes and lovely sound however I couldn't help but miss the original not so filtered version. It somehow loses the nostalgic gritty vibe, when you first encounter the warlocks and the dark caves of which they dwell, it creates more atmosphere with it being hard to see and more impactful when the first torch is lit. I am stuck between two versions of this movie where in one sense I love the crystal clear scenes where he flows through time and the animations do there wonders yet taken out out of the moment in the too bright and sharpened dramatic scenes.
Overall this doesn't matter to you guys reading than review but I would suggest to watch this on VHS or dvd first and experience the full
Nostalgia. If that's not your thing then great the beautiful Blu Ray version awaits you also.
