Great performance from the cast. This story is an unnerving look inside another's mind and the boundaries people are willing to cross (If those boundaries even apply to their morals). Nightcrawler kept me engaged and anxious to see what was next. I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a different type of thriller.
Perhaps this was a movie made strictly for fans of the franchise, however, the piece alone is absolutely terrible. The plot was incoherent and frail. There wasn't enough setup for the audience to actually care about any of the characters' deaths or feel for the protagonist. It was annoying that every reason or "mystery" was basically babied and handed to the audience, not leaving any room for the viewer to actively engage. It seems that they had to bring in big names to help market the production, however, the big names didn't deliver. Maybe there was only so much they could do with a bad script, but still the acting was questionable.
I thoroughly enjoyed this film. I appreciate how the story is grounded in reality. Personally, I have seen similar situations in my hometown community and even within my own family. So it was surreal to see such a realistic take on the screen. The acting was as if someone just sat a camera down in front of a family and let it run. Every scene made you think and feel something, which is the goal of any film. Overall, a fantastic experience.
It appeared that they weren't confident with which route they wanted to go with this film. The script was not as solid as expected and did not keep a consistent tone throughout. Some of the acting was cringe and did not provoke the emotions that I'm sure were intended. However, it was okay for what it was and good background noise.
