Movie Ratings and Reviews

21 Jump Street

Really liked this one. Expectations were low but Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill delivered. A ton of fun and enough action to keep it interesting.

John Carter
John Carter(2012)

Watched this one twice just to double check. It wasn't very good. Lots of fun but it just didn't do it for me. Could have used a better leading man.

Dr Seuss' The Lorax

Pretty good. A little heavy handed and the musical numbers were a bit much. Despicable Me was better.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

One of the worst movies I've seen in a while. Serious moments that came off as funny, funny moments that came off as stupid, and a general sense of disregard for the audience. First time 3D has ever made me sick. The graphics were good though.

The Grey
The Grey(2012)

Pretty good "man vs. nature" film that focuses on the journey. Not what people are expecting from this movie but I liked it.

Amazingly well done movie but more then a couple plot holes and a film logic that I can't get behind.

Jingle All the Way

So bad it's funny. Classicly horrible Christmas movie.

Crazy, crazy movie. Amazingly well animated and intense. Hard sci-fi with a hard R rating. With the watch if you are any kind of animation fan.

Our Idiot Brother

Rudd plays naive so well... Quite like him in this film.

The Artist
The Artist(2011)

Quite good, story could have been stronger though. There was a couple other directions that the story could have went that would have been much cooler. Still, very interesting and well done.

Source Code
Source Code(2011)

I enjoyed this flick, even if I thought the ending was a little weak. A couple ham handed plot points, but an otherwise fun ride. Jake Gyllenhaal is good as usual.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Liked it a lot... will have to go back and watch the first film though. The bad guy makes the film and Downey triumphs once again.

Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol

A very big "meh" from me... Great set pieces and cool action sequences but weak characters and story really hinder the film. Great direction though, Brad Bird should be proud.

Die Hard: With a Vengeance

I find it weird that it's not a Christmas tale like the first two. Still, it's a fun ride with Sam Jackson and Bruce Willis.

Die Hard 2
Die Hard 2(1990)

Not the best of the franchise, but still a fun action movie.

Die Hard
Die Hard(1988)

good old fashioned action movie. An action classic... I love Alan Rickman as the bad guy.

Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame

Decent flick. Would have liked to see some more fight scenes but the visuals were stunning and the story was decent enough.

V for Vendetta

I quite enjoyed it. Very political and very smart, though very different then the source material. Still, one of my favorite movies about revolutions. Just as good the second or third time around. Super fun to watch on the big screen.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt commits to this movie. It must have been crazy hrd not to spin into a depression filming this film. Luckily for Joe (and his character) Seth Rogen adds just as much commitment to the funny side of the film. You'll laugh though your tears. Great job from both actors.

The Muppets
The Muppets(2011)

A labour of love, Jason Segel brings The Muppets back in a big way. Great call backs to jokes from the original and plenty of heartfelt moments.

The Muppet Movie

A classic. This movie runs on nostalgia. The cameos and running gags alone make it worth it. I love The Muppets.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II - The Secret of the Ooze

Not nearly as good as the first... still a fun nostalgic watch, but I wish they would have kept to the dark tones of the first one. One of those films that was about making money off the success of the first film, not about making a good film series.

A Disney classic. Hard to rate it but it's definitely a film I've seen a dozen or more times. A favorite of both my sister's and my wife's.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie

One of My favourite Comic to film adaptations... who doesn't love the turtles... always a fun watch and will always hold a special place in my heart.

In Time
In Time(2011)

Really cool concepts. Justin Timberlake isn't amazing but he pulls it off. I wish the story had been a little more solid. Could make a great TV show.

Interesting idea... cool visuals... weak execution. Too bad, cause it has a really cool cast and a lot of style.

Sci-Fi/Fanasty goodness... well written, smart, funny, and totally imersive... a diamond in the rough. A classic Sci-Fi film in my book.

A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas

Ok... Very reliant on 3D and like the rest of the trilogy, it has it's moments. Overall though, not my favorite of the trilogy and not that good of a movie.

Crazy, Stupid, Love.

Wonderful film, would highly recommend it. From the child actors to Ryan Gosling, everyone in this movie is hilarious. It's a little bit of a build up, but the ending/punchline is so worth it.

I Love You, Man

Really funny movie, wonderfully acted with a ton of hilarious parts... even better the 2nd time around.

This movie thrive on Russell Brands charm and fortunately I think the man is quite charming. Other then that, the movie is highly predictable and only really has a few bright spots.

2001: A Space Odyssey

So incredibly slow... I understand hy it's a classic but when I watched it it felt painful trying to get through it. So many long cuts.

Attack the Block

Great film. Do yourself a favor and go rent this movie. Like now.

Page One: Inside the New York Times

Very well thought out and interesting documentary. If you're into news or are a journalist of any kind, you have to watch this movie.

Nostalgic fun with some great tunes. Doesn't age very well, but if you watch it with the timeframe it wa made in mind, it can be a lot of laughs and dancing. Lithgow also rocks pretty hard in it.

Horrible film. The only reason I'm giving it such a high rating is cause I had fun making fun of it with the people I saw it with.

Enjoyable but hard to recommend to other people

Real Steel
Real Steel(2011)

Decent flick. The acting was really well done and so was the cinematography. Kids will love it and if you don't take it too seriously, you will too.

Planet 51
Planet 51(2009)

Funny inside Sci-Fi jokes, smart casting, and some good one liners can't save this from being a predictable, dumbed down comedy for kids. It's probably the worst movie with Gary Oldman and John Cleese in it. And... why is Dwayne Johnson's character a stark white ginger?

Contagion was a blunt look at the human side of disease. Well directed and shot. Reminded me of The Social Network (same style).

The Trip
The Trip(2011)

The impressions were quite funny and they did make me laugh, but it was too drawn out for me.

Your Highness

Definitely had it's moments but overall felt disjointed and awkward. Lots of money spent on this film though. Maybe they should have spent more on the script.

If your a fan of MMA you'll probably love it, if your not there are some decent moments but I didn't think it was that good. It doe not compare to The Fighter in my mind.

Had it's moments... Really liked Steve B.'s bunny character. Other then that, not much to it.

Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope

I don't think I've ever actual seen the original Star Wars without all the additions.

Big Trouble in Little China

I think this movie helped solidify the fact that I don't like cheesy movies... because man, was this movie ever cheesy. Sheesh.

The Debt
The Debt(2011)

Interesting twist in the middle of the movie, but the payoff wasn't worth it. Well cast and well acted though.

Really interesting concept, visuals and execution. Poorly handled ending.

Don't have fond memories of this one but I thought Seth Rogen's character was pretty funny.

30 Minutes or Less

Could have been better, could have worst. Lots of funny moments though, even if Danny McBride's schtick is starting to wear thin.

Love love love this flick. Wonderfully animated and brilliantly creative.

The King's Speech

Good movie with some great preformances. Still it seemed pretty cliche for a movie based on real events.

127 Hours
127 Hours(2010)

Good but not great. I felt they didn't do a good job showing the boredom he must have felt spending SO LONG down there.

Gnomeo and Juliet

As a fan of most itterations of this movie, I begrudgingly went to this film with my family. It wasn't as bad as it could be, esspecially if your a fan of Elton John's music. Still, I feel like this was a crappy idea to start with.

True Grit
True Grit(2010)

Even if you aren't a big fan of Westerns, this film is incredibly well made. Jeff Bridges transforms himself for this role and Matt Damon is quite good as well. I didn't care much for the story though,

Finally saw this movie and was pretty disappointed by it. Cruise was pretty good, but everybody else seemed pretty weak.

Monsters, Inc.

Great Pixar classic. This movie deserves a sequel. Not a prequel, a sequel with all of the original cast. One of Pixar's best.

Black Swan
Black Swan(2010)

Intense. Visually impressive and well acted through out the entire film. Amazing film.

Despicable Me

Fun film with an all-star cast. Not as good the second time around, but still a light hearted film that will warm your soul just a little. Agnes character steals the show multiple times.

Three Kings
Three Kings(1999)

I'd give it a solid "meh" or two. It was ok, the acting was all over the place, story too.

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith

My favorite out of the new trilogy, but a still doesn't compare to the old ones... in fact it's pretty horrible. "I sense a plot to destroy the Jedi."

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

A wonderfully imaginative film that, due to unfortunate circumstances, falls a little flat. I think everyone would have loved to see Heath finish this film. But the film still seems to be able to hold it's own.

Still a classic. Love James Wood in this, he's absolutely hilarious.

Good movie. Great visual effects and great use of 3D. Poor plot and under used characters however make this movie only a good movie for me. Love having James Cameron back though.

Rachel Getting Married

A beautifully emotional film that pulls you every which way. Very hard to watch in some moments, but this only helps you feel deeper for the characters. A well done peice of Drama.

Sherlock Holmes

Sherlock Holmes was good. Nothing overly amazing, but not a bad film by any stretch. Hopefully theres more.

The Santa Clause

Still pretty good after all these years, but why didn't they just make it a "Home Improvement" Christmas special. Tim Allen basically plays the same character. Either way, it's still a good holiday classic.

This movie is great. But with John Favreau directing, Zooey Deschanel as the love interest and Will Ferrell leading the way, how could you go wrong? Simply great.

The Nativity Story

I thought it was pretty good. Well acted, not really 100% accurate, but still a nice family film to celebrate Christmas.

A Freaking classic... love Bill Murray. Just love him. This movie is just great.

The Polar Express

Meh... it was ok, the bad facial animations really took me out of it. That, and that really annoying kid in the yellow gave me a headache.

Family Guy Presents: Something Something Something Dark Side

Even better then the first. Can't wait to see what they do for Return of the Jedi. These are really quite a great mashup.

Family Guy - Blue Harvest

Just freaking hilarious... if your a fan of Star Wars, you owe it to yourself o watch this. Absolutely awesome.

Paper Heart
Paper Heart(2009)

Cute, but phony. You can definitley tell some of this was staged, but I still enjoyed it. It was fun to watch.

Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian

A fun family movie that builds on the first film but doesn't build on the believabilty of it.

Law Abiding Citizen

Another good idea that was poorly done. There is absolutley no moral to this story and the violence is all over the place. It's too bad, cause this movie could have been good.

Interesting and creepy. This movie (very) slowly gets weirder and weirder, which is good, but it takes way too long to grab your interest. And by time it does, the plot has gotten so screwed up it gets confusing. Interesting concept that I feel was poorly exicuted.

Thick as Thieves (The Code)

Just bad... why oh why is Morgan Freeman in this movie? It's just horrible...

Pirate Radio (The Boat That Rocked)

A good fun film on freedom and rock n' roll. It was a little dry in spots, but still worth some warm hearted laughs.

Hilariously bad movie. Fun to watch in that roller coster kind of way. The acting is all really bad in this movie, but it adds to the cheesiness. 3 Stars just for Woody's character alone.

Brillant film that completely blew my expectations out of the water. This indie film is a true gem, a diamond in the rough. i highly recommend it to anyone out there who loves cinema or just enjoys a good movie. A new favorite of mine. See it! http://www.doubleedgefilms.com/

Mr. & Mrs. Smith

This movie is Hollywood at it's finest. Two big names in wonderful oarts that seemed written just for them. Great on screen chemistry with a beautiful play on marriage. I highly recommend this movie to anyone. Great stuff.

25th Hour
25th Hour(2003)

I don't see the big deal with this film. It was ok, showed the emotional drama of the situation very well, but other then that I found it falling flat and very hard to relate to or care for this character.

Star Trek
Star Trek(2009)

Amazing movie, JJ Abrams and the writing crew of Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman did a phenomenal job. I'm a very old school Trek fan, and they not only catered to me, but catered to my wife who barely seen any Star Trek in her life. Cinematic Magic is back in a big way. Still great the second and third time around too.

Meh... it was ok. Lacking in the morals department, but definitely well acted and not too bad to watch. Would easily recommend it to a poker player.

The United States of Leland

Much better then I had anticipated, great cast and Ryan Gosling is brilliant as usual. The ending was a little drawn out though, and lost the necessary punch that it could have had. Still, good film overall.

Never ever going to get that 2 hours back.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind

Classic through and through. Had a little bit of that Star Trek:The Motion Picture vibe with some of the long drawn out cuts, but still, good movie overall and classic Speilberg.

Confessions of a Shopaholic

not bad for a chick flick... though there was some really over the top and silly parts. Gotta love John Goodman though.

Nancy Drew
Nancy Drew(2007)

Not horrible, nothing amazing. Some fun cameos and a whole bunch of big names. As far as kids movies go, it could have been worse.

Sunshine Cleaning

Good film. Very real and approachable. I liked all the actors/actresses in this film and would recommend it for sure.

Felt like a really long commercial. Cameron was good, but the rest of the crew could have used a little more acting classes. Good message though, and with the divorce rate so high, it can't hurt to have this movie out.

Inglourious Basterds

Great overall movie, does a great job of sucking you in, holding the tension very high and bringing out some great preformances. Brad Pitt is great in this film, wish his character got more screen time...

17 Again
17 Again(2009)

I always like Matthew Perry, and Zac Efron is actaully not half bad in this. A good watch for the family.

I rather enjoyed this movie, charming, witty and cute.

District 9
District 9(2009)

Best movie of 2009 - http://www.firstshowing.net/2009/08/25/the-film-feed-episode-26-recap-on-district-9-and-gi-joe/

The Time Traveler's Wife

Solid concept, but short scenes and a not so great preformance by Bana seem to help this film fall short. Too bad, this movie could have been great.

A wonderfully touching family film. The only thing holding it back seems to be the animation.

High Fidelity

I liked this movie. The breaking down of the fourth wall kind of erked me at first, but once I got into it, it was good. Jack Black also once again proves he is the freaking man. Great stuff from him. Overall good movie about music and love.

Disappointing all the way around. could have had a better story, better preformances, better overall direction... the list goes on. ghe best part was the CGI "Shadow" and the great idea of a story hiding in this film. Too bad it missed the mark.

500 Days of Summer

Good film, lots of good life lessons and smart commentary on love, life and the romanticizing of both. Wasn't as amazing as I had hoped it would be, but maybe I'm just not the audience the movie was reaching for.

Shaolin Soccer

You gotta have a certian sense of humor to like this movie... Luckily I do. This movie is fun and family friendly. Good way to introduce kids to other cultures.

good flick... raises some good questions and pokes some good fun at faith in general... mostly the chatholic faith, but faith none the less... and its farely well informed... stupid humor and smart humor too... i liked it. Even more the second time around. Kev Smith is the man.

The Hurt Locker

Great film. Intense, gripping, well directed and well acted. Go see it!

The Godfather

I can see why this movie is a classic now. Don't know how interested I am in watching the rest of the trilogy, but it was good to finally watch this one. Amazing cast.

One Week
One Week(2008)

A well played out love letter to Canada. The only thing I felt they could have left out was the voice over. Other then that, I liked it a lot.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Best out of the whole series. I quite enjoyed it. A lot more drama and real moments. I liked it a lot. Looking forward to the next two now.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Not bad... I'm not a big Harry Potter Fan, nor have I read any of the books (yet) but as a film on its own this movie was alright... nothing amazing, the CGI and effects where great, especially near the end... kind of wish the last couple fight scenes were longer though... Just as good the second time around.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

I didn't think this one was that well done. Loved the Dragon in it though. Felt rather forgetable when watched with the rest of the series.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

meh, not bad... as a lone film it stands on its own, though the last third of the movie kind of seemed like a cop out to me... whatever, its not too bad... could have been worse. Not bad the second time around either, still not a huge fan of the last third of the movie.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Not a bad film either. It's about as good as the first, if not just a bit better. The ending made me look forward to the next film, which is probably a good thing.

Good film, but I found it rather anticlimactic. Brillantly done though. I'm amazed that this movie was a low budget indie film. Great FXs.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

Not a bad film, felt a little kidish, but what do you expect from a film about 11 year olds going to wizard school. Good film for what it is.

The Dog Problem

Funny, I guess. It was a pretty slow movie and not incredibly well directed, but it had heart and a good ending. Good to see Ribisi in a leading role, and I always love Caan and Cheadle.

I quite enjoyed this movie. Ray Liotta is the man. Lots of good moments in this one.

The Big Lebowski

Ah, this movie was ok. I didn't hate it, didn't love it. I don't know if I really got it. Might have to give it a rewatch sometime.

The Rock
The Rock(1996)

Lame. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for it, or maybe I just hate Nic Cage THAT much, but I really could not get into this movie. Weak.

Great movie. Mashing high school drama with film noir drama is so brilliant. This is just a great movie.

The Brothers Bloom

I really enjoyed this film. I was looking forward to it, but it still caught me off guard as to how well it was done. Go support indie films and go see this movie.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Just about as good as the first, if not as good. Seeing it in IMAX was worth every penny. Michael Bay at his best, doing what he does best.

Jurassic Park

Still a great thrill ride of a movie. I couldn't believe how well the special effects held up. Their were some obvious CG scenes, but there was a couple parts were I couldn't tell. And of course the Drama is still there.

Happy Gilmore

I forgot how much I love this movie. Classic Sandler. Classic Movie.

Groundhog Day

Classic Movie... can't believe I'd never seen it before. Great stuff from Bill Murray and Harold Ramis. Quite the classic.

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist

Wow, I was completely blown away by this film... I was not expecting the emotional reaction I got from this film. Excellent movie, and I highly highly recommend it.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop

I don't know what the big deal with this movie is or how it made so much money at the box office. I mean it wasn't horrible, but it definitely wasn't good. The guy who played the villian was awful.

Classic nerd movie. The graphics could really use an overhaul, but if you can get past them, this movie really is a fun ride. Makes me excited for the sequel.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Quite a sad movie, wonderfully acted and technically marvelous though. Also a pretty slow movie, but interesting none the less.

A little slower then anticipated, but still a fun Guy Ritchie action gangster film in the same plot style as Lock Stock or Snatch... great cast too, including Tom Hardy, Tom Wilkinson and Thandie Newton. Fun times.

The Hangover
The Hangover(2009)

A rather ridiculous and hilarious R-rated comedy romp. Zach Galifianakis steals the show with every line he utters. I liked Bradley Cooper in this too, even if he did play a jerk character.

Great film... it's no Wall-E, but it was heartfelt and full of Pixar magic. Good stuff, though quite sad in parts. Take your family, but maybe not grandma.

Chicken Little

good little film, with some fun cameos... could have been alot better though. Patrick Stewart, Adam West and Zach Braff saved this movie for me.

My Super Ex-Girlfriend

Really weak sause... I didn't even finish watching it, the script was horrible, and so was Uma Thurman... Bad movie.

There is nothing horrible about this film, it's a little violent at times and the story is very Sci-fi. But it was done well enough and had some really good parts. The alien monster was pretty well done.

Terminator Salvation

Good movie. Caught me off guard, I really thought I wasn't going to like this movie. http://tinyurl.com/ok92uf

I quite enjoyed this film. It wasn't anything amazing, but it was fun and had a ridiculous amount of Star Wars quotes in it. Could have used a little less Seth Rogen though, the guy is funny, but I don't think the multiple characters was necessary.

The Wrestler
The Wrestler(2008)

I didn't think this film was amazing, but it had it's moments. It was well acted, but the story was rather slow paced and very predictable. I probably won't ever watch it again.

Angels & Demons

Good film... Nothing amazing about it, some good special FXs, some decent acting and some nice twists here and there. But overall it felt a little formulaic. Ron Howard does nothing out of the ordinary with this film. I haven't really decided if thats a good or a bad thing.

The Soloist
The Soloist(2009)

Good film, not great. Jamie Foxx was the good part, Robert Downey Jr. the not so great part. Still though, the message was strong and the meaning was deep. I could recommend it.

Wasn't great, not very funny or different. I wasn't very impressed with the Micheal Cera wannabe.

Hot Rod
Hot Rod(2007)

Ridiculous... Really funny and over the top, you need to watch this one with some friends. I found it hilariuos in spots, really stupid in others.

Fast & Furious

About as good as the first one... Just good old fashioned car movie. A couple cool scenes and a try for a twist ending make it worth the watch.

Swing Vote
Swing Vote(2008)

Alright. The young lady who plays Costner's daughter did a good job. The story was forgetable, but the message was good.

Pretty cool movie, the mid movie twist was unexpected and good. Love Ray Liotta in this and John Cusak is pretty good too. Pretty good overall thriller.

Horrible, horrible acting. Just horrible acting. Ok story though, enough to keep me interested. An amazing special effects scene. Mostly though, the acting ruins this film.

Bedtime Stories

Good kids movie, but nothing amazing. I recommend it to people with small kids.

Yes Man
Yes Man(2008)

Pretty good, pretty funny. A little predictable and a little slow at the beginning... But overall I really liked it and found it pretty funny.

Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who!

I rather enjoyed this movie. Both Jim Carrey and Steve Carrel did a fantastic job. The story was pretty good too.

really good movie, I liked it alot... a classic from Jack Nicholson. A must watch.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Love Mos Def in this movie, and there is some great visuals in this film. Could have been funnier though... and longer. Good stuff all in all and a must watch for Sci-Fi fans.

I Heart Huckabees

weird, but i liked it. Mark Wahlberg is hilarious, as is Dustin Hoffman. You can't take this movie seriously and if you don't, you'll laugh. Weird, fun, indie flick.

The Brothers Grimm

Better then expected, but still pretty dark. I liked almost all the actors and actresses in this film, so it was definitely fun to watch. Not much of a kids movie though. Still fun.

Have to say, I thought this was pretty one sided. But the ending point of the movie and some of the ridiculous people he met with made for interesting viewing at least.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

Iconic, classic, real. This film is brillant.

Great film... Beautifully acted and fantasticlly well written... Robin Williams preformance alone is worth the rent.

Monsters vs. Aliens

Good flick... Watched it in 3D, and it was pretty good. It was no Kung Fu Panda, but it was still rather funny...

Rain Man
Rain Man(1988)

Really good film... I can't believe I haven't seen it before. I really rather enjoyed it. The only major flaw for me was the soundtrack, time did not befriend it. But other then that, great film.

Really good movie, I quite enjoyed it...

Really good film... great action, ok story, good acting... go see it, you'll like it.

Strange, different and hard to pin down. This Movie is not for the faint of heart and definitely something I won't recommend to my parent's... I'm interested to read the graphic novel now though, and the film itself is a great piece of work... had us all talking about it after the viewing, thats for sure...

always a classic and always good for a viewing... crazy cool... amazing use of storytelling with a unique view of the main character... I recommend this film to anyone who loves suspense and mystery films...

The Simpsons Movie

Still a half decent movie the second time around, and always very Funny. They seemed to be able to do more with the boundaries in the film then in the TV series. Overall it wasn't that good of a piece of cinema, but as a Simpsons fan, it is very classic Simpsons. I just felt like the story had already been done before, and some of the Jokes got old pretty fast. I would have liked to see the Bart/Flanders thing go farther. But its still a very fun film and a great thing to see if your a Simpsons Fan.

Why do people like this movie? It was horrible... the ending was ridiculous... in the same vein as Kill Bill but with less good fight scenes and an even worse ending... horrible film... horrible...

Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome

Tina Turner is a horrible actress... that being said, if you can get past her and Mel Gibson's hair cut for most of the movie, then this film is Grade-B Sci-Fi goodness... corny in all the right places... funny, and serious at times... with good morals. Gotta love it...

Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior

This one does alot better then the first... the action is pumped up, Max is way darker and the story gets right to the heart of the matter... great sci-fi film...

Mad Max
Mad Max(1979)

weird, slow and did not age well... still... pretty sweet for its time... the car crashes are awesome...

Pineapple Express

Really Funny... James Franco is hilarious... the movie itself is pretty dumb, but at least it has a couple good moral stories behind it... oh, and the action sequences were pretty hilarious too... good stuff from Rogen...

Grandma's Boy

meh... there was some really funny parts... but for the most part, I really just could not get into the story... the portrayed the video game industry as a bunch of pot smokers... and one dude building a game all by himself? Have you seen the credits on Mario Brothers? Good video games are made by many people... most of whom probably don't smoke weed...

Slumdog Millionaire

Personally I didn't love this movie... it was good, but not great... I'd recommend it to my Mom, if that says anything about the movie... and I don't know if it deserved the oscar, being that I haven't seen any of the oscar contending movies...

Seven Pounds
Seven Pounds(2008)

this is a brilliantly acted and played out movie, which is all about the journey... horrible sad, but wonderfully strong... Will Smith is amazing once again... I don't think I'll ever be able to rewatch this movie, and its hard to recommend, but it is a good movie...

Quantum of Solace

not nearly as good as the first... still liked alot of the action and Daniel Craig as Bond... I just felt like tis one was lacking the style the first one had...

a masterpiece from Pixar given to us... if you don't like this movie, you don't know good movies... and its still a gem after the second and third watch... can't say enough good things about this movie...

Tropic Thunder

crazy... just freakin crazy... I don't want to watch it agian because of Tom Cruise, but I do want to watch it again because of Robot Downey Jr. and Jay Baruchel... they just let Jack Black loose on this film too... funny stuff from him...

Role Models
Role Models(2008)

funny... stupid, crude, but funny... good old fashioned R-Rated comedy... great story to it too... I really liked Paul Rudd in this film... and of course, McLovin...

The Day the Earth Stood Still

not great, not horrible... I don't care much for jennifer Connelly, but Keanu Reeves and John Cleese made up for it... ok movie, CGI could have been alot better...

good stuff... just blows your mind what Americans have to do for health care... good informative and funny film...

Léon: The Professional

great movie... alittle weird with the dynamic of Portman's Charatcer and Reno's Character... but still some great action and wonderful story... Gary Oldman is an amazingly crazy villain too... I really enjoyed the film...

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa

meh... this movie really wasn't that good... Bernie Mac was funny... and you'd think combining Ben Stiller and Chris Rock would lead to alot funnier results... but no... Sacha Baron Cohen's Character was hilarious though... only saving grace of the film...

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

funny... but not great... lots of parts I'd rather forget... but overall a funny movie...

The Incredible Hulk

it was pretty good... more action then the last one... and more drama too... overall pretty good Hero movie...

it was actually pretty good.. nothing amazing, but for a video game to movie it was not half bad... could have been much worse, could have also been better... not so good the second time around... still has some cool moments though...

Chaos Theory
Chaos Theory(2008)

amazing... loved this movie... brilliantly profound and a wonderful message... plus, who doesn't love Ryan Reynolds kicking the crap out of someone... I loved it

Journey to the Center of the Earth

good for a kids movie... but kind of pointless when not watching it in 3D...

Max Payne
Max Payne(2008)

horrible... could have been at least 10x better... at least... not enough action, to way to long to get to the point... and of course, opened up for a sequel... don't see this movie... its horrible...

good but not great... shows the life of an addict, and shows it fairly well I would suppose... good cast... lots of dramatic moments... Heath Ledger is brillant as he always was... good artsy Indie Film...

lots of fun... I really enjoyed the funny and witty play this movie had... smart, emotional and lots of fun... great film...

Eagle Eye
Eagle Eye(2008)

I rather enjoyed this film... reminded me alot of old Spielberg movies... nothing spectacular, but just the right amount of suspense and drama to keep me going...

Iron Man
Iron Man(2008)

really good... it was lots of fun, and didn't take itself too seriously... some very good CGI and some great performances... I highly recommend it... then I highly recommend seeing batman afterwards... LoL...

The Forbidden Kingdom

if you like Kung-Ku movies, go see this to watch Jackie Chan fight Jet Li... but other then that... this should have/could have been made in the 80s/90s... could have been way better too...

Speed Racer
Speed Racer(2008)

Again, I don't know why everyone hated this movie... I liked it... it was way over the top, but its based of a cartoon... what did you expect? I really liked the graphic work and this movie looks beautiful in high definition...

The Love Guru

I don't know why everybody hated o this movie... I thought it was funny... nothing amazing, and deff not as good as The Austin Powers series, but it was still ok... maybe people didn't like it because it was so unbelievable... Toronto making it to the NHL Finals... ha.

The Fall
The Fall(2006)

I really really enjoyed this movie... original, creative and dramatic... the only real criticism I have is the girl playing the lead, I couldn't understand a word she said and she annoyed me... but other then that, great show...

The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: A VeggieTales Movie

good stuff... very funny... very well done, great story, lots of funny moments, good morals and character...

The Other Boleyn Girl

poop... sheer poop... great cast, poop story, poop movie... poop...

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

good movie... but not for kids... there was way too much stuff in this movie the warranted a PG-13. Seriously. A beheading, lots of killing... cool movie, but seriously marketed to the wrong crowd. Make sure to watch this before watching it with any young kids...

Smart People
Smart People(2008)

so... boring.. so... slow... horribly directed, so much hidden talent in this movie... and I'm sure the writer had alot better movie on the page then this... it was just poorly directed in my mind... and so slow... ugh.

Step Brothers

some unnecessary parts in the movie... but overall very funny and very memorable.. the comedy was very very well done... some awesome one liners and great jobs by both John C. Reilly and Will Ferell...

What Happens in Vegas

honestly not as bad as i thought it was going to be... my expectations for this movie were so low, that i actually liked it alittle bit...

Treasure Planet

classic Disney with some funny moments... art direction is amazing, but the story could have been better...

Fight Club
Fight Club(1999)

first rule of fight club is... you do not talk about fight club... this movie is awesome... not as awesome as I remember it the first time I watched it, but still one of my favourites...

In Bruges
In Bruges(2008)

wonderfully Shakespearean... Colin Farrell is incredibly sarcastic... and Ralph Fiennes is dramatically on cue... just a wonderful comedy/tragedy...

The Dark Knight

simply the best comic book movie I have ever seen, if not the best movie I have ever seen... Heath Ledger was brillant and the rest of the cast can not be beat... wonderfully engaging and trully epic... go see it if you haven't already... and if you have seen it, go see it in IMAX again...

The Shawshank Redemption

classic film about jailbreak and heartache... very good story with great acting from Morgan Freeman

Batman Gotham Knight

Not as good as I thought it was going to be, but still very interesting... I didn't much care for a lot of the art styles

some really well done graphics, but for the most part I just found it overly sarcastic... Even Morgan Freeman's performance was only so-so... I honestly think common did the best job acting in this movie... and don't even get me started on some of the horrible "duels"... the best part really was the ending...

A Beautiful Mind

good movie with alot of great actors... Ron Howard did a great job here, as did Russel Crowe... Very Smart and deep film...

Bee Movie
Bee Movie(2007)

horrible... I mean, there was a couple funny parts, but for the most part just really not funny... the Ray Liotta jokes were good though... but thats about it.

P.S. I Love You

it was ok... the casting wasn't great... I don't think Hilary swank was the right pick to play opposite Gerard "300" Butler... but the movie had its moments... and was made to make women cry... really it was...

Kung Fu Panda

great movie... even "pixar" great... Jack Black is great, Dustin Hoffman is wonderful... and it is wonderfully funny... great film...

The Breakfast Club

classic film on teen angst... good teenage drama...

Meet the Spartans

hilarious... really good film, my only beef with it is that it took so long to get to the action... but that was kind of the point wasn't it... good stuff though... I quite enjoyed it...

Lars and the Real Girl

I have to say this was alot better then i thought it would be... another great performance by Ryan Gosling and a very straight up story about mental illnesses... I really liked it...

27 Dresses
27 Dresses(2008)

not bad for a chick flick... but still deff a movie for the girls.

No Country for Old Men

Am I the only person who thought this was slow and boring... the ending was horrible and left me feeling like there was no point at all to the film... how can a movie with so much violence be so boring? I don't recommend this film.. i really didn't like it...

3:10 to Yuma
3:10 to Yuma(2007)

great western shoot em up... i loved it.. plus, with Christan Bale and Russell Crowe you can't go wrong... plus... I hate posses...

I think it was alittle too artsy even for me... it was good right until about the last 10-15min, where it just got fairly creepy...

Lions for Lambs

not bad... very political, but hollywood needs that right now... it wasn't horrible... wasn't great though either...

The 11th Hour

insightful... deff a good look at what we are doing to our world... i recommend to anyone...

Seven Years in Tibet

alittle slow... but an amazing true story... i liked it

pure classic... love it...

Southland Tales

Really cool movie... kept me thinking all the way through... loved almost all of the casting choices... except maybe the rock... but other then that pretty cool movie... not for the easily confused though...

The Nines
The Nines(2007)

good indie flick... but i didn't really like the way the 3 parts where split up... kind of took you out of the story... and the ending was alittle far out for me...

Dan in Real Life

great family fun film... despite Dane Cook being in it, i rather enjoyed it... its a film i'd recommend to my mother...

poorly done... horrible story... stolen style (mad max anyone?) the only good parts for me where the action bits and some of the ideas behind the movie... but other then that, i wasn't impressed...

The Bank Job
The Bank Job(2008)

pretty slow up until the end... the ending was definitely the movies saving grace... other then that... not very good...

10,000 B.C.
10,000 B.C.(2008)

bad CGI, reused plot, bad dialogue, lame acting and even more bad CGI... i would not reccomend this film to anyone thinking it will be anything like 300, despite the marketing departments best efforts...

Be Kind Rewind

awesome film... great heart and very heart felt... wonderful movie that i recommend to anyone... Michel Gondry does it again...

Vantage Point

it had its good quality's, but overall it was a big disappointment to me... could have been alot better and alot less cheesy...

Across the Universe

only reason this is worth the watch is the beatles songs... other then that, very chopped up scenes and alot of missing story... but you can't go wrong with the soundtrack... Bono even sings a song or two...

Into the Wild

not sure that i actually liked this one... the story was interesting and characters were well played... but it just didn't seem to touch home with me... the fact it was base on a true story was pretty cool though...

Martian Child

Pretty good i have to say... I really liked the ideas behind this... I think alot of parents could learn from this movie and alot of teachers too... different is good and this movie shows that... good message...

There's Something About Mary

Meh... it was ok... the dog scenes were pretty funny... but other then that... maybe i just wasn't in the right mood for it...

Run Lola Run
Run Lola Run(1999)

Really cool movie that is very smart and very heart felt... I enjoyed it alot...

Mission: Impossible III

Pretty good I have to say... I've always been a fan of the M:I series, and with J.J Abrams behind this one I enjoyed it even more...

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (AVP 2)

not very good... better then the first one... lots of blood and guts... horrible acting... fun to laugh at...

great movie... wonderfully sarcastic and well played... Ellen Page was brilliant and Michael Cera is as nerdy as ever... I really really liked it...

Perfect Stranger

Fairly good story, I guess... I like Giovanni Ribisi as always... but I don't know... there was something about the movie that just wasn't right... theres no way you could see the ending coming with all the red herrings they through out... it was ok... i just felt kind there was something missing...

License to Wed

I didn't like this movie at all... I think I'm just not a big John Krasinski fan or something... I donno... I just really didn't like this movie... Robin Williams really wasn't that good in it...

I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry

not bad... Ving Rhames was awesome... Kevin James isn't my favorite... could have been alot funier and risky given the subject matter... still, it had its moments...

Flushed Away
Flushed Away(2006)

It was actually really good... alot more then I was expecting it to be... very fun family film... I recommend it...

National Treasure: Book of Secrets

it was a fun family film that kind of surprised me actually... it wasn't bad... i was expecting alot worst... first one still better, but not alot better...

Live Free or Die Hard

it was funny enough... didn't seem like a die hard movie to me, just an action movie with Bruce Willis in it... I donno, wasn't horrible... wasn't great though... worth the laughs for sure...

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

fairly well done... Very very done in the Tim Burton style, but still well done in that style... I did not know it was going to be a musical, but it was still rather interesting... "Twisted in just the right ways" as my wife put... and interesting dash of everything... very graphic though... good film over all, esspecialy if your a Tim Burton fan...

Day Watch
Day Watch(2007)

I was quite disappointed by this second installment in the series... Nightwatch had alot more going for it, and This movie just did not live up to the first film in my opinion...

The Neverending Story

imaginative maybe, magical maybe, old... definitely... This movie has not withstood the test of time very well...

I Am Legend
I Am Legend(2007)

Really Really Well done film, alot better then i was expecting... Will Smith Carries this film with Passion and Talent. Really Well Done on Smith's part, haven't seen a good old Sci-Fi Action Thriller Movie like this in a while...

The Golden Compass

Really cool actually... I wasn't sure i was going to like this movie, but i was pleasantly surprised with great acting and marvelous CGI... i quite enjoyed the film and it really makes me want to pick up the books...

Pretty good i have to say... one major plot twist that i didn't see coming that i really liked... other then that, it was just a pretty good overall film... didn't love it, but it was deff worth the watch...

Terminator 2: Judgment Day

Wonderful Sci-fi movie... better then the first one, but mostly because the budget was higher... really great film, can't say enough about it...

Land of the Dead

kind of boring actually... I was expecting more from the movie... I seemed to be missing something... it seemed like it should have been a made for TV movie special that led into a new TV series... it wasn't very good... Dawn of the Dead was alot better....

The Muppet Christmas Carol

always wonderful... a classic christmas movie for the ages... Michael Caine is wonderful...

The Terminator

always great... a classic from James Cameron... a must for any sci-fi fan...

Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Really Fun, Great Movie, This was the first time I've actually seen it all... pretty good, and lots of fun Alan Ruck looks alot like my brother in this film or rather my brother looks like him... hahaha...

meh... it was okay, I'm not a big Nic Cage fan or Julianne Moore Fan, so i wasn't expecting much, I was expecting more out of a movie based on a Phillip K. Dick story...

SLC Punk
SLC Punk(1998)

Pretty good movie... Fun... Definitely a coming of age story... has its moments and i actually like the ending... good stuff...

as one reviewer put it "Shrek meets 300"... fairly accurate statement... great visuals, but the story could have used some more fleshing out... Can't say enough about the visuals though...

Not as funny as i remembered it... but still, Classic Dangerfield, Classic Chevy Chase and Classic Bill Murray...

Saw IV
Saw IV(2007)

I have to say... this one wasn't as good as the first three... though not alot different then the first three in terms of twisting story line and horror, this one seem ed way to easily set up for a sequel and the ending was alittle confusing...

I'm i the only person who thought this was lame? Biggest beef was with the ending... seriously wrote themselves into a hole with this movie. And why was Sam Jackson in this movie... just not that great.

Knocked Up
Knocked Up(2007)

Not bad... not crazy funny as some people told me, but still had some really good parts, i really starting to like Seth Rogen...

Girl, Interrupted

interesting thats for sure... and great acting from Angelina Jolie... but other then that, kind of lame...

Pretty good, kinda creepy... not crazy suspensful... but still fairly good... Shia LaBeouf does a good job with it...

Shoot 'Em Up
Shoot 'Em Up(2007)

the definition of cliché is this movie... every last action movie cliché was in it and over the top... it is worth the laugh thats for sure... but other then that it wasn't amazing...

Perfume: The Story of a Murderer

I gave this film a single full star because of the high quality production value... other then that, this movie is retarded... it either the movie took itself way to seriously, or i tried to hard to take it seriously... but i mean seriously, the movie is about a man with the power of super smelling who kills girls to make a wonderful perfume... how did this movie get made?

Very god performance by Anthony Hopkins, it was easily the best part of the show... Ryan Gosling was also good, and held up his end of the story quite well... good film, but not as well written as i would have hoped it would have been...

meh... alright, it was kind of like a bad version of Princess Bride with too much CGI... Fun Film though... good for a laugh and a easy family showing, I wouldn't watch it again though...

The Bourne Ultimatum

Great movie, easily as good if not better then the first two... it was really well done and ties the series up nicely... go see it if you liked the first two...

A brilliant piece of science fiction glory, Danny Boyle delivers and mind twisting epic that creeps in like the slow sunrise... The CGI and cinematography in this movie were absolutely brilliant and lent a very big hand to the epic feel of this wonderfully depressing view of humanity in there (literally) darkest hour... I loved it. The last half hour of the movie blew me away.

Got to see an advanced Screening of this Movie... and it was profane, awkward and hilarious... very funny if your not easily offended... McLovin anyone? Go see this Movie if you like to Laugh...

Great Film... Another classic from Pixar/Disney... Patton Oswalt is Great in the Lead Role and the supporting cast is wonderful... my only major beef with the film was with the ending, it seemed very rushed to tie up all the loose ends... but still a great film to add to an already great library of films from Pixar/Disney...

Amazing... thats how I'd describe this film... Adrenaline Pumping, Action Immersed Transformers on Speed... go watch it, I'm going to go see it as many times as i can in the theater... Great Movie... Pure Entertainment...

a great idea and story line that falls flat and focuses way too much on some parts of passion then others... could have been way better... Jeff Daniels was Brilliant as usual, as is William H. Macy... good movie that had alot of potential...

Déjà Vu
Déjà Vu(2006)

pretty cool movie... i'm a big fan of the time pardox/time travel movies... i liked how they tried to make it very realistic... the ending could have been cooler, and they could have explained Jim Cavaiezel's Character alittle more... but it was still pretty good... i liked it...

Evan Almighty

Not a horrible movie... definitely for the kids too... Morgan Free is the Best part of the movie and delivers some of the best lines, although Steve Carell has him Moments aswell... not a bad film, not great tho...

Tommy Boy
Tommy Boy(1995)

Absolute Classic... Easily my favorite Chris Farley Movie...

Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End

could have been worse... better then the second, still worse then the first... it can't quite keep up to the fun and carefree spirit of the first film... most of it was pretty predictable too... and sheesh was it long...

Ocean's Thirteen

Still hip and fun, Ocean's 13 is a great film everybody can go see. i found the pace alittle bit slow on this last installment, but the cool factor is still there. Great throwback to the original in there aswell...

Pan's Labyrinth

wonderful... original, imaginative, haunting and innocent... loved this movie and i recommended to anyone who loves fantasy films...

Classic movie, easily one of Mel gibsons best, but you can definitely tell he directed it with all the close ups to his face... haha, still a pretty good movie...

Shrek the Third

not bad, not great... not as good as the first two, thats for sure... but still very funny, with Antonio Benderas and Eddie Murphy heading up most of the laughs...

American History X

gripping... very intense, very graphic and very powerful... tackling the hard issue of racism with no holding back... some images in this movie will stick with you long after the movie is over... well done film...

X2: X-Men United

best of the series... does a very good job with managing all the characters and using elements of the comic book why still being original... good movie...

28 Days Later

very well done picture... the ending was a little too violent for me, but the film speaks volumes towards humanity's dark side... great film, just wish it wasn't so violent...

The Da Vinci Code

a good piece of fiction that tries to be suspenseful but really gives too much away... i don't think tom hanks was the right man for the role, but he did a fair job anyways... i didn't think the movie was horrible... it was good for having read the book...

Spider-Man 3
Spider-Man 3(2007)

better than the first two... but not much, the only reason i gave this 3 stars and not two and a half was cause i loved Venom... venom diserves his own movie, and not Topher Grace... Venom, the CG character Venom...

funny stuff with lots of celebrity cameos... one of Ben Stiller's best movies...

The Constant Gardener

well written, well portrayed, good message... I don't know about the use of cinematography tho... might have to rewatch this one in widescreen format... full screen just didn't seem to do it justice...

Blade: Trinity

fun enough... as long as you don't take it too seriously... love Ryan Reynolds...

Snakes on a Plane

absolutely nuts... so bad, but funny enough, and fun enough to be at least worth the rent... its a B-Movie and it knows, reminded me of the late 80s early 90s movies...

Blade Runner
Blade Runner(1982)

Classic Sci-Fi... beautifully directed peace of artwork by none other then Ridley Scott... a wonderfully crafted Movie... Classic Sci-Fi at its best...

The Warriors
The Warriors(1979)

Great old time flick... with an easy story and serious tones...

The Lookout
The Lookout(2007)

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

Nothing to amazing... funny, british and not a half bad storyline... but other then that, nothing crazy special about this film... at least to me...

Happy Feet
Happy Feet(2006)

weird... had a good message, but i think it got lost in the snow...

absolutely ridiculous... over top violence, nudity and story... kind of pointless... the only people i'd recommend this movie to would be people who love dumb action movies with no plot... though they do get the adrenaline hype look and feel for the movie dead on...

A Scanner Darkly

crazy... but interesting none the less... it was a trip thats for sure... and the animation was amazing... Definitely a great film of Linklater's... you have to see it to believe it though...

good stuff.... quirky is the way I'd describe this film... but i quite enjoyed the quirkiness... good performances from the whole cast... and still one of my favorites after all these years...

Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny

fun rock movie... in the vein of "Bill & Ted" this adventure delivers enough laughs to make it entertaining, but only if your a Jack Black fan, or a Tenacious D fan.... otherwise, this movie would probably be just really stupid...

Wonderful... as an Old school Fan I loved it, has just the right amount of seriousness and humor! Awesome... so much better then the old ones...

classic Farley and Spade... a must see for any old school SNL fan...

Jackass: Number Two

holy disgustingly repulsivness wee-man... Laugh out Loud extreme... crazy movie, wouldn't recommed it to the faint of heart or stomach... funny tho...

Murder by Numbers

not much of a thriller... they tell you how everything is going on the whole way... good preformances from Micheal Pitt and Ryan Gosling tho...

Lord of War
Lord of War(2005)

well told story about making mistakes and the mess this world really is in... the movie is actually quite political, but Nic Cage's Character keeps your attention off that by driving the story with his life's story... good stuff...

old school... jim henson does an amazing job of bring the world of the Labytinth alive... 2 stars just cause of jim henson's work alone... 1 more star for David Bowie... LoL

Edison (Edison Force)

had potiental... but fell flat with poor directing... nice fight scene between LL Cool J and Dylan McDermott though...

Cinderella Man

well made, well acted, but it the story was incredibley predictable and done many times before... maybe thats cause everybody had troubles in the 30s... based on a true story tho... thats cool...

i found it extremely unoriginal, they didn't change the film very much from the original... though Johnny Depp does a great job as a creepy looking Willy Wonka... "your weird"

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

this movie is worth the watch for the graphics and amazing fight sequences alone... the story was alittle weird and probably would have made more sense if you'd played the video games... but it was still pretty cool...

lame lame lame lame LAME... plot holes, bad effects, same stunts over and over... this was just a very poorly acted and poorly done film... horrible
