Taylor Hanson
One of the three brothers who made up the band Hanson, Taylor Hanson was born on March 14, 1983 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The second oldest of seven siblings, he was raised in a big family in the Tulsa suburbs. When he was nine years old, Taylor, his older brother Isaac, and younger brother Zac began performing a cappella at free gigs. They eventually added guitar, keyboard and drums with Taylor on lead vocals and played at festivals and state fairs using the band name Hanson. They picked up a manager after performing in Austin, Texas for the South By Southwest music festival and they earned a record deal after performing at the Wisconsin State Fair. Their debut album "Middle of Nowhere" (1997) contained the single "MMMBop" which became a massive international hit. The song was nominated for two Grammy awards and the album reached the number two spot on the Billboard 200 chart. The band would go on to release seven more albums, none as successful as the first. In 2009 Taylor Hanson formed the supergroup Tinted Windows with the bassist from Fountains of Wayne Adam Schlesinger, Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha, and the drummer from Cheap Trick Bun E. Carlos. The group released one studio album "Tinted Windows" (2009). In addition to his musical career, Hanson founded a Tulsa-based charity organization called Food on the Move to fight food insecurity.
