The first silent film I ever saw that made me actually stand up and cheer As a first introduction to silent film, I would pick The Kid Brother over the best of Chaplin or Keaton every time.
Although the story is predictable, this movie is hilarious and very entertaining. I really liked Lloyd and the rest of the cast, they did a great job in their roles. The slapstick comedy doesn't take center stage, it's balanced with the story and the action. And it has a great ending. I recommend seeing this movie.

Better story, better jokes, equal characters and stunts, all this film needed was an iconic scene like the clocktower and this would be heralded as Lloyd's masterpiece, not Safety Last!. A more suitable screenplay for Lloyd's "Glasses Character" this is as close as Lloyd came to the standards of Keaton and Chaplin.
