This Roger Vadim production was released in the US as ...And God Created Woman. Vadim's then-wife Brigitte Bardot plays the central character, a curvaceous nymphet with a voracious sexual appetite. We can't recommend this little item as a sample of the best in Gallic films. It is clumsily put together and rather bizarrely played.
By today's standards the film is tame, but back in 1956, Vadim's feature debut was sensational and scandalous, catapulting Brigitte Bardot (who was married to Vadim) to the status of international sex icon.
A great movie to eat ice cream to. Brigitte Bardot - WOW!
Adding up to hardly anything more than a bunch of snapshots of Bardot posturing as a sex kitten in various stages of undress.
A fragilidade do roteiro e o tom de melodrama poderiam transformar este filme em uma experiência nada memorável - mas é aí que a presença incrivelmente sensual e luminosa de Bardot faz a diferença, salvando a produção.
More a vestige of 1950s film scandal than a significant work based on its content.
breezy and enjoyable-often funny and sometimes even a little sad
The story line is so slight it is forever in danger of wafting away on the Mediterranean breeze. Plainly, it was Ms. Bardot's presence alone that made the film a hit.
