Any such themes are downplayed in this sentimental story, though Milani’s teasingly ambiguous treatment of the young woman pays off handsomely in the end: without truly knowing her, the hero can never really know himself.

Reviews for Superstar
Tahmineh Milani is considered one of Iran's most accomplished filmmakers, but you wouldn't necessarily glean that from her disappointing drama Superstar.
Superstar exhibits a tender, intelligent sweetness, which helps to temper the utter conventionality and more melodramatic moments.
