Leslie Greif directs this adaptation of Ray Cooney's hit British play, a throwback farce about mistaken identity. Any movie that starts in a wax-fruit factory can't be all bad.
An old-fashioned screwball farce with a few amusing moments, just not enough of them.
I can imagine how this script played funny on stage, given the right cast. However, it just never seems to work on the movie (or rather television) screen.
Welcome, Mr. Chase, to the absolute bottom of your career.
Perfectly serviceable middle of the road comedy.
The cast is uniformly pretty terrible, playing what are already broad situations over the top.
... never-hilarious but often-quite-amusing ...
I watched a bit of it and it was so boring that I didn't felt like watching the rest.
