Writer/director Nancy Meyers (What Women Want, Something's Gotta Give, The Holiday) directs Meryl Streep, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin in It's Complicated, a comedy about love, divorce and everything in between.
Jane (Streep) is the mother of three grown kids, owns a thriving Santa Barbara bakery/restaurant and has--after a decade of divorce--an amicable relationship with her ex-husband, attorney Jake (Baldwin). But when Jane and Jake find themselves out of town for their son's college graduation, things start to get complicated. An innocent meal together turns into the unimaginable--an affair. With Jake remarried to the much younger Agness (Lake Bell), Jane is now, of all things, the other woman.
Caught in the middle of their renewed romance is Adam (Martin), an architect hired to remodel Jane's kitchen. Healing from a divorce of his own, Adam starts to fall for Jane, but soon realizes he's become part of a love triangle.
Should Jane and Jake move on with their lives, or is love truly lovelier the second time around? It's...complicated. --© Universal

Reviews for It's Complicated
Streep, Baldwin, and Martin are having so much fun in this romantic comedy-drama that it's impossible not to get swept up in the good time they're having as well.
It's really not all that complicated. But it is entertaining. It's pure, simple fun, with Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin playing Doris Day and Rock Hudson as they might have been if they had ruled in the sexually knowing oughts, instead of the virginal ear
The film is lightweight, likable, rather overlong and a piece of wish-fulfilment.
Soft, warm, doughy comfort food it was no doubt intended to be. The screenplay is jovial; the actors twinkle and Mamma Mia! fans should love it.
Rollicking and ribald, 'It's Complicated' is a comedy about passions and people 'of a certain age.'
The ‘yuppie-bohemian’ culture prevalent in most films of this nature remains uninspired, and while the Adler’s affair may be complicated, the plot isn’t, but as a perfect example of what the right casting will achieve, it remains very watchable.
A refined, balanced and eminently funny film, featuring three sublime performances from its incredibly talented leads.
It should have been titled, "Well, It's All Just Sort of Manufactured." The film is pat, it's predictable, we've seen revisions of its story countless times before--but that doesn't mean it isn't enjoyable, which it is.
As a dramedy, It's Complicated might work better as a dram than an edy, but it works.
A fun and sweet romantic comedy that lands comfortably on the smart side of vacant, along the way offering a pleasant and satisfying diversion for the grown-ups in the room.
Like all Meyers’ films, it’s more about interior design porn than real human emotions and drags on for far too long. Still, Streep, Krasinski and Baldwin are so good, they almost make it work. Almost.
Streep is as enjoyable as ever, and if laughs count for anything, this is one of the better romantic comedies of the season.
It’s Complicated is the kind of wholesome adult-oriented entertainment that once formed the bedrock of classical Hollywood.
For me, Meyers's romcoms have been unwatchable because of the utter fakeness of their leading players: but I must confess, Baldwin and Streep do have that most over-analysed thing, "chemistry."
No one's calling it great art. But as an indulgent confection, it's more filling and less embarrassing than we had any right to expect.
It may not be the saviour of romantic comedies, but this is an enjoyable film with great leads and comic chops. Complicated? Not really, but it is a laugh.
While making a few pithy observations about the mid-life condition, it's no more complicated - or profound - than a racy issue of Hello!
Not too sickly-sweet, but not sour either – still, Meyers’ sex-with-the-ex comedy is an entertaining poke in the eye for Hollywood ageism.
