Freeheld (2015)

Critic Consensus: Freeheld certainly means well, but its cardboard characters and by-the-numbers drama undermine its noble intentions.

Unfortunately, the story gets too caught up in the politics, and though Moore delivers an emotional ending, we're not given the chance to get to know Laurel and Stacie - just what happened to them.

Audience Reviews for Freeheld

Heartfelt and heartrending, "Freeheld" is a real tearjerker of injustice, loss and hope. The dialogue lacks inspiration, but the intimate acting of Moore and Page make up for it.

There wasn't much screen time spent on making the characters relatable, since so much time was spent on how unjustly they were treated. The events depicted in this movie are important, but the hero of the movie is a straight man. This is similar to "The Help" wherein the movie makes a young white girl to be the hero, rather than the middle aged, black maids.

I love Julianne Moore but this is not one of my favorites with her because this movie is about two lesbians and the story is just boring and doesn't seem real. I don't recommend this one.
