In this visually and conceptually impressive film, two-bit Berlin criminal Manni (Moritz Bleibtreu) delivers some smuggled loot for his boss, Ronnie (Heino Ferch), but accidentally leaves the 100,000 mark payment in a subway car. Given 20 minutes to come up with the money, he calls his girlfriend, Lola (Franka Potente), who sprints through the streets of the city to try to beg the money out of her bank manager father (Herbert Knaup) and get to Manni before he does something desperate.

Tykwer ups the adrenalin with a fast-forward technique that gives instant backgrounders on some of the people Lola flashes by. It's dizzying, almost like having your life flash before your eyes. But it's a rush, just like the movie.

Though the cycle broke upon the climatic, pleasantly rewarding scenario, this is one of the more fun, under earnest circumstances, entertaining films by directorial intellect in being concise, active and direct with the techno vibrant not only echoing the idealized rushing adrenaline but also functionally captivates in remarkable engaging matter. (A-)

Definitely not what I was expecting, but it was a fascinating, well-made film with a lot of charisma and ambition. It's kind of like a spiderweb - you touch one string, and somewhere else another one vibrates. A very interesting take on time loops and influencing the lives of others. Loved it.
