A Haunted House 2 (2014)
Critic Consensus: Sloppy, vulgar, and manic, A Haunted House 2 might be worth a chuckle or two, but mostly it's a string of pop culture references and crude gags that fail to hit their intended targets.
Crossing new lines and breaking old barriers, A HAUNTED HOUSE 2 is the sequel to the hilarious box-office hit starring Marlon Wayans as Malcolm who, after exorcising the demons of his ex, is starting fresh with his new girlfriend and her two children. After moving into their dream home, Malcolm is once again plagued by bizarre paranormal events. With spine-tingling tension and hilarious punch-lines A HAUNTED HOUSE 2 is inspired by the latest supernatural horror movie franchises and shows that this time... it's not just the house that's haunted! Critic Reviews for A Haunted House 2
Though he's not for all tastes, there's something admirable about Wayans's willingness to do anything for a laugh, often reminiscent of Jerry Lewis at his most frantic.
Marlon Wayans' parody sequel is as inept and puerile as its predecessor, but let no one say its screenwriter and star doesn't give it his all.
Calling this one an improvement is like saying that being kicked in the shin is better than being punched in the stomach. Either way, it hurts.
Audience Reviews for A Haunted House 2
Marlon Wayans is back for more spooky shenanigans in A Haunted House 2. Co-starring Jaime Pressly and Cedric the Entertainer, the cast has some impressive talent. And the parodies are pretty funny, spoofing such recent hits as Sinister, The Devil Inside, the Paranormal Activity series, and Insidious. Where the film gets into trouble is in the gratuitous sexual humor and vulgarity. That, and the storytelling does a piss-poor job at linking the parodies into a cohesive plot. A Haunted House 2 delivers some laughs, but there's just too much crudity and stupidity for it to be enjoyable.
Completely irreverent and mostly unfunny, A Haunted House 2 is a slight improvement on its predecessor, but is still a complete waste of time that fails to conjure more than a few guilty chuckles.
While still just as all over the place as its predecessor, A Haunted House 2 does, admittedly, deliver a few laughs.
