But Cody's got a secret - he's actually part of a secret teen CIA program.

Cody's living every boy's dream life - he can drive like a stuntman, has an incredible arsenal of cool gadgets, and his agency mentor, Ronica Miles (Angie Harmon), is totally hot. But Cody's training is put to the test when he's sent to pose as a prep school student and befriend fellow teen Natalie Connors (Hilary Duff) in order to gain access to her father, a scientist unknowingly developing a fleet of deadly nanobots for the evil organization ERIS. From runaway cars and high-speed snowboard chases to a spectacular final mountaintop showdown, Cody has to use everything he's learned to prove himself as an agent and stop ERIS... and maybe even get the girl. Muniz and Duff seem to be two perfectly normal teenagers thrown in the midst of an elaborate fantasy, and they pull it off beautifully.

Dreadful, witless and pointless.

Zwart pulls out enough stops in action sequences involving jet-propelled skateboards, stunt drives and mountain rescues to keep the ball rolling nicely.

The movie is bouncy and colourful, and cheesy in a nice way, but it outstays its welcome in the last half hour.

A formulaic Hollywood 'crowd-pleaser' that can be summed up in three words ('Teenage James Bond!').

This may be a case of mission unaccomplished, but the future looks brighter for Cody Banks than it does for Austin Powers.

...Cody Banks is a little older than the Spy Kids and, consequently, more into the girl thing. I'm not sure it improves the picture.

Muniz is an extremely likeable actor and the fact that Banks is meant to be pathologically shy around girls offers a handy point of identification for its target audience.

It’s as though for every good idea the movie has, someone from the writing committee jumped in and said, 'Yeah, but let’s put a fart joke right after that.'

Never quite as funny as it could have been, Agent Cody Banks is nevertheless far too genial to dislike.
