John Form (Ward Horton) thinks he's found the perfect gift for his expectant wife, Mia (Annabelle Wallis) : a vintage doll in a beautiful white dress. However, the couple's delight doesn't last long: One terrible night, devil worshippers invade their home and launch a violent attack against the couple. When the cultists try to summon a demon, they smear a bloody rune on the nursery wall and drip blood on Mia's doll, thereby turning the former object of beauty into a conduit for ultimate evil.

Annabelle does an admirable job of keeping tension high and the scares are legit. The two real issues I take with this film are the rather lackluster ending and the total lack of levity or humor.

Uma boa atmosfera,uma boa ideia,mais uma execução ruim,sinto que esse filme conseguiu ter sim,uns momentos tensos,mais não aquilo que realmente fosse dá um surto tão grande achei o terror bem fraquinho,mais boas atuações e um filme realmente chocante,mais faltou algo a mais.

The acting is decent, the soundtrack is ok. It starts off well enough but doesn’t go anywhere interesting. Certainly a few scares but the story wears thin around halfway through. Though it doesn’t have a long running time the film does start to drag just because the storyline is so tedious and uninspired: an utterly unoriginal a stack of horror cliches. The ending sucks and didn’t strike me as believable. Watch Annabelle: Creation instead, its far better.

O primeiro filme derivado de "Invocação do Mal" (2013) era o mais importante da saga, pois ele serviria como exemplo de que a franquia seria capaz de sustentar-se sem a presença do casal Warren. Infelizmente, "Anabelle" falha não apenas nesse quesito, mas também em apresentar uma história interessante por conta própria, independentemente da sua ligação com o "Universo Invocação do Mal" (2013-2025). E embora tenha alguns erros narrativos de continuidade, o principal problema de "Annabelle" é ser chato. Esse é um filme muito, muito chato mesmo. Entediante. Salvo uma cena boa (a cena do elevador), não acontece nada o filme inteiro. Não existe arco, não existe atmosfera e não existe desenvolvimento dos personagens. É apenas uma longa sequência de sustos previsíveis e clichês de terror.
