The monstrous Penguin (Danny DeVito), who lives in the sewers beneath Gotham, joins up with wicked shock-headed businessman Max Shreck (Christopher Walken) to topple the Batman (Michael Keaton) once and for all. But when Shreck's timid assistant, Selina Kyle (Michelle Pfeiffer), finds out, and Shreck tries to kill her, she is transformed into the sexy Catwoman. She teams up with the Penguin and Shreck to destroy Batman, but sparks fly unexpectedly when she confronts the caped crusader.

Burton's version of tragic romance a la The Bride of Frankenstein in Batman's universe, and it's a captivating attempt at that, due largely to the incredibly on-brand performances by Keaton, Pfeiffer, DeVito, and Walken.

Watching Batman Returns in Dolby felt amazing. The sharpness of the faces and the powerful sound made it feel like a brand-new movie, even though its from 1992. Tim Burton crafted a great, darker Batman, and fans were left wondering about the third film that never happened under his direction.
