Orpheus 1 @RT43963049 Jun 16 So, this is basically a Dr Who rip-off made for 1989 American teenagers. And not the brightest of them, might I add. Nothing in it is in the least credible: the plot, the dialogues, the historical characters, the costumes... It looks like a budget Back to the Future with absolutely none of the ingredients that made that movie great. So yeah, if you leave your brains somewhere before watching, watch it as a satyre, accept that you'll be seeing young morons as the heroes of the movie for no good reason at all, and caricatures of historical figures put in ridiculous situations, you might have fun. But this is in no way, shape or form a good, or even an acceptable movie. Please don't waste your time watching that, there's so much choice of good movies out there... It’s one of the most fun and rewatchable movies ever made, never taking itself too seriously—and that’s exactly why it works so well. Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are hilarious, with great chemistry that makes their characters instantly likable. Their goofy personalities somehow stay charming the whole time, and a lot of their lines feel iconic. The time travel idea is simple but brilliant, leading to tons of funny moments with historical figures like Napoleon and Socrates interacting with the modern world. These scenes are creative, unpredictable, and always entertaining. It also has a great message about friendship, staying true to yourself, and thinking your way out of situations, like when Bill and Ted are at the police station. Overall, it’s a feel-good classic that never gets old and is easy to watch again and again. Two teenage metal heads have fun time traveling across history to help them with their history report to avoid military school. It's like an American stoner Doctor Who with the magic phonebooth. There are so many funny parodies of historical figures and the movie takes full advantage of the premise of mixing them all with modern times. Young Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter both share great chemistry and are really likable & earnest with their Rufus teen characters. George Carlin is great as the cool mysterious phone booth time travel master Rufus. Dated 80s dude lingo make up most of Bill and Ted's dialogue. Which would sound cringey, but the movie goes to the extreme with it, even creating a future utopia inspired by Bill & Ted's music. The movie's really funny and is filled to the brim with rapid-fire jokes, historical references, and sight gags. The movie is hilarious and a very creative spin on the time travel genre.
