L E O Sep 3 I was able to watch the 15th Anniversary IMAX edition of this film, but my critique is about the movie itself. Great film, loved immersing myself and disassociating from the outside world during this movie. It is truly worth watching in theaters if you can find it again, but the plot is great, it's a very accurate depiction of the dance world (I have some experience) and it was a pleasure to see it depicted on the big screen. The cinematography is amazing, the acting superb! I have seen this before however I did not recall that until part-way through this viewing. The thing I was most impressed with is Portman’s engagement with the body of the role, meaning her physique, stretching, dancing. The cinematography, editing, CGI, is impressive. Casting is… curious. Particularly Kunis and Ryder. At the end, I was not sure of the film’s point. Parenting? Undiagnosed mental illness? Sexual assault and bullying at work are cool as long as the audience clap? I spent nearly two hours watching a lady suffering, mostly, for… what? Rewatch? No (I hope I remember next time). Recommend? Hmmm, maybe… not. 5/10. See more Read all reviews
