Ridley Scott ought to be a set decorator, rather than a director. In Blade Runner, he loses sight of the story while devoting all his attention to decor and lighting. The decor and lighting, it must be admitted, are stupendous.

Soooo BORING. The special effects are mind blowing, the acting is great, the atmosphere is rich and feels very real, but the plot dragssss ass. I almost fell asleep watching it. I get why Blade Runner impresses fans so much, I get how good a job the filmmakers did world building, but it ends up feeling like 90% of what I watched was world building. The twist at the very end when Deckard gets spared by Roy is deep enough that I give it 3 1/2 stars when I otherwise would have given it 2 1/2. Not for me, not for many, but understandably great to some.

This is really good. It was kinda slow to start, but it's so cool. My dad liked it for the old detective stuff, but he's old. I highly enjoyed the cyberpunk PKD stuff. Speaking of PKD, I'm reading the original book, witch Philip K Dick(PKD) wrote.
