Movie Info
This comedy returns to the exclusive but crazy country club golf course seen in the original Caddyshack. This time its the blue-bloods against the blue collars as a loud, vulgar self-made millionaire tries to join the stuffy upper-crust club after his daughter falls in love with the son of one of the members. Naturally, the boisterous millionaire is rejected by the genteel jerks. He retaliates by buying the golf course and turning it into an ultra-tacky amusement park. Merry mayhem ensues, but

It is a sight not to behold.
This PG-rated romp is bland bananas compared to its R-rated predecessor.
On and on they come -- Chevy Chase, Dan Aykroyd, Jackie Mason, Dyan Cannon, Randy Quaid -- all trying to crack us up, all failing miserably.
It's shoddy, lazy and numbingly stupid.
Caddyshack II is the kind of film that sends careers spiraling downward.
It's patronizing and clumsily manipulative, and top banana Jackie Mason is upstaged by the gopher puppet.
The result is a disaster. Mason founders in his poorly written role, and none of the film's endless series of gags is the least bit funny.
The first Caddyshack may have been funny, but take away some of the talent from the original and you're left with the mess that is Caddyshack II.
The screenplay is hopelessly vulgar; the filmmaking is hopelessly clumsy.
The outfits are a scream. The movie is not.
You know a movie is in trouble when the special effects forces at Industrial Light and Magic are employed to jazz up games of golf.
Comedy has always relied on the follies of clueless people. Caddyshack 2 doesn't have such follies in its plot, yet they permeate every single frame.
Not as truly awful as its Razzy-stealing reputation would lead you to believe, but this tame, raunch-free followup is the definition of 'skippable.'
Where are the laughs (and stars) of Caddy 1?
The original was no great shakes, but this is beyond bad.
Hideous.
Thankfully, Chevy Chase does turn up to reprise his role from the first film, and he's as good as always, but is it enough to save the film? Um, We'll, not really.
The title alone represents the cheapiest, lamest and most laughless sequels ever made ... and justifiably so.

Super Reviewer
If you liked the original "Caddyshack" movie, I would recommend at least watching "Caddyshack 2." NOTE: That was my Amazon review from the year 2000.
