Lacks the rigors of Hellman's other brilliant westerns.

An under appreciated, out-of-the-box western with a woman's struggle to be loved and appreciated at it's core.

This was something I wanted to track down due to the history behind the film, as it's co-written by Jerry Harvey, the subject of the Z Channel documentary, a man who interested me a great deal, plus the cast and director are all top notch as well.

Testi is awesome as the lead, stealing away Warren Oates young bride (the gorgeous Jenny Agutter) even as he tries not to, but what;s a man to do when she's throwing herself at him?

Good little western, well worth a look, though I'd like to track down the uncut version, as this one was edited by about 10 minutes.

Check it out.

I had just seen The Cockfighter and I decided to go into a Monte Hellman frenzy. This film cooled me down instantly. Most of the cast is Italian which turns any sentence coming out of the actors' mouth into a massive laughter.
It is a Spaghetti Western of the worst kind: nothing to say, no artistic ambition, nothing. Even my beloved Warren Oates doesn't manage to save the film from being a total wreck. It is not even fun
