A small-town Canadian waitress pining for the attention of the former high-school football star finds her affections returned from the least likely of places in this entry into the 2005 Vancouver Film Festival from director Vic Sarin. Bad Hollywood movies sporting big price tags are one thing -- never much fun to watch, they can at least be a pleasure to ridicule. But a bad Canadian movie done on a shoestring budget is another matter entirely.
Call this menu item not just all-dressed, but overdressed, overwritten and overcooked.
...never quite comes off as anything other than an instantly forgettable, unmistakably Canadian romantic comedy.
Its bad writing is made worse by sloppy filmmaking -- and it's a shame, because you can see the potential here.
A low-budget mediocre Canadian movie. However, I actually fairly enjoyed it. Yes, it's not a great movie in terms of scriptwriting and plot but it does have a light-hearted charm to it with a great setting being filmed in the mountains of Southwestern British Columbia just north of Vancouver.
