Actrices ejemplares con unos personajes increíbles, eccéntricos y bastante poco comunes, un buen guión, diálogos bien pensados y una temática obscura. Es una película increíble con efectos especiales y maquillaje que considero buenos para la época. Avanza muy bien hasta que llega a un punto donde parece que ha perdido el ritmo y se mantiene así hasta el final, tal vez sea el motivo de las bajas calificaciones. Aún así, creo que es una película muy entretenida y la recomiendo especialmente para aquellos que como a mí, nos encantan las historias de hombres lobos. The banter between the sisters and their relationship is so 90s teen drama but with a twist. While it will never be able to be at the very top of the genre dethroning American Werewolf in London, it smashes all thr other contenders like the overrated dog soldiers and other awful attempts at the werewolf genre. See more Ryan P @RT25602761 Nov 16 Ginger Snaps, a horror classic film about a human turning into a werewolf. It’s not only widely celebrated for its plot and story telling. But it’s not so much the idea of turning into a werewolf that makes it a classic, but rather the timing in Ginger's life that makes the film so iconic. The movie heavily symbolizes female puberty throughout the story of a girl transforming into the werewolf, while her sister tries to keep her contained. I will admit, it was great reflecting off of the character and gives me a newer perspective for women so I can see why it has a cult following. But what about other people who haven’t seen it? Is this film for them? It resonates well with people having the fear of growing up into adulthood and being rebellious of the rules and pressure on them. It’s an interesting interpretation, but I find the story telling and the emotional impact of Ginger turning against everyone, even her own sister, to be impactful on the audience. It certainly had me on the edge of my seat to see how far her own sister is trying to help her but ultimately has to be the one that ends her. Unfairness in Ginger having her own life while she can’t help but be controlling herself. Although, it may have dragged out longer than it should’ve because the ending felt slightly rushed. One could argue, "It’s titled Ginger, so of course it's going to be about her" so I can see why others might think otherwise, so it’s more so of a build up and characters acting slightly stupid compared to how people would normally be in regular situations (which is a normal frustration to have when watching horror movies). Ginger fought for control over her life while having and managing the insecurities of her sister’s interactions. Ginger snaps is a must watch for an adult audience and horror enthusiasts. While it may not be perfect, it has great symbolism and messages that many people can relate with. However, if you dislike horror films for its long build up time or the character’s lack of thinking, then this film may not be for you. See more Wayne K @RT88290232 Oct 29 I recall some of my friends in high school speaking fondly of Ginger Snaps, but even then I had no idea what it was about, and I didn’t get round to watching it until last night. Coming out at the beginning of the noughties, a relative dead zone for horror, it’s a movie that succeeds because so much effort was put into the story and characters, not to mention the absolutely right choice to use make up and prosthetics over CGI, which at the time would have looked horrendous. By spending so much time with the sisters, witnessing their home and school life, we get the chance to see the world through their eyes, and as the transformation occurs we see how a wedge is gradually driven between them. Credit to screenwriter Karen Walton for making them both likeable and somewhat abrasive, as teenagers tend to be. The metaphorical content isn’t exactly subtle, but it makes total sense in context, and it provides some incredible visuals, as well as some very emotional moments. I’m not especially keen to see the sequel or prequel since the film itself feel like it should stand on its own and not be turned into some cheap commodity or franchise coasting off a single movie’s success. Ginger Snaps is a film that works perfectly well on its own, a literal portrayal of werewolfisms and a metaphorical representation of something much more normal, but in some ways just as traumatic.
