The whole island seems to be in transition – huge developments threaten to deface the natural grandeur of the place – and this documentary may yet come to represent a vital memorial.

Now they've taken that same attitude with their first concert film, which is more of a journey through their on-stage production than a simple collection of live footage. It's also a visual documentation of one of the most ambitious tours in music history, which took the band to some of the most remote regions of their homeland and beyond. [More]

Reviews for Heima: A Film by Sigur Ros
The elegantly composed shots of the island's broodingly lonesome wide spaces offer clues as to the group's widescreen post-rock sound. Indeed, their music comes to seem site-specific, as environmentally immersed as the landscape art of Richard Long.
Sigur Ros' creativity and open attitude was at one with Iceland's ravishingly beautiful landscape.
When the band and the film move in sweet simpatico they produce a few precious moments of transcendent grandeur.
Made with love for fans, this is an indulgent but enjoyable film about the band and the places that have inspired their music.
Heartfelt and humorous, if you’re not pulsating during the Reykjavík finale you’re probably kaput.
Iceland’s extraordinary natural beauty is as much a star of the movie as Sigur Rós’s magisterial music and the all-local crew could hardly have done a more impressive promotional job had ‘Heima’ been commissioned by the Icelandic Tourist Board itself.
