What to Know

Critics Consensus

Grotesque, visceral and hard to (ahem) swallow, this surgical horror doesn't quite earn its stripes because the gross-outs overwhelm and devalue everything else.

[The sequel] is already in the can. Which is where many of us will be, seeking relief for emetically affected stomachs. Go to Full Review

It scales the heights of yuckiness. It places a flag on a hitherto undreamt-of Everest-peak of offensiveness. Go to Full Review

It’s one of my favorite horror movies because of the absolute unflinching commitment to a ridiculous premise, while just barely betraying itself with subtle touches of dark dark humor. Go to Full Review

Shockingly restrained, all things considered, serving more as an entertaining entry into the mad scientist subgenre than anything else. Go to Full Review

Notable only for the sheer oddity behind its concept, The Human Centipede (First Sequence) is not a horror movie that wants to scare you. Instead, it wants to leave you with a sense of revulsion. Go to Full Review

TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch 9 hrs ago The Human Centipede is an absolutely disgusting and awful film. I genuinely do not understand how anyone thought this concept was going to work as a horror movie or create something that would resonate with an audience. The premise is designed to shock and disgust, but for me, it never translated into meaningful horror or a compelling story. I can understand that some people may watch this out of curiosity. For me, though, there was nothing enjoyable about it. It felt more like something people would watch simply to react to it, laugh at how outrageous it is, or see what all the controversy is about rather than because the actual filmmaking is impressive. Ultimately, The Human Centipede felt like a complete disaster. I could not connect with the story, the concept, or the execution, and I found the entire experience unpleasant rather than entertaining. This is not a movie I would recommend, and it is definitely not something I would ever want to watch again. See more Mike R @Horrorfan1990 1 day ago disgusting and way to disturbing for me. I'll likely never watch again See more Rayne K @StardreamerSky 3 days ago I finally mustered up the courage to watch this movie. I was a little surprised that it wasn't as vulgar or explicit as I thought it would have been. The reputation was worse than the reality. Legend has it that Tom Six spewed his guts, or maybe his bowels, out more in the 2nd one. That said, the movie was nothing nice. In fact, I felt deeply troubled by it and did not see the humor that so many other viewers talk about. The film was over the top, yes, but it failed to make me laugh. It's a bleak and hopeless deep dive into utter degradation as this sick madman carried out his procedure on innocent victims. From what I understand, Six drew inspiration from the experiments of Nazi physician Josef Mengele. While I didn't feel particularly "dirty" for watching this movie, it took several hours for me to shake off its effects. For hardcore horror fans only. See more Dominick C @RT95041678 Sep 27, 2026 I'd give this nasty bull crap 0 stars if possible. I watched it and still cant get it out of my head. I had to talk to my family to try to make myself feel better. FLEE FROM THIS MOVIE NOW! See more Gunner I @RT64755212 Sep 26, 2026 What could possibly be wrong with someone to even think of making a movie even close as demented as this movie? I know I could have found a movie more cheerful than this but I just thought I would check it out to get it out of my system..... And to this there's 2 more of these movies. I'm sure I'll watch there as well for the same reason. Please God let them make more sense than this one. Wow! What a messed up movie and a messed up mind. See more Cinema S @cinema_sensei Sep 24, 2026 The Human Centipede is easily one of the most disturbing and disgusting films I've watched. I understand that the whole point is to shock and disgust the audience, but for me, there wasn't enough substance underneath the extreme premise to make the experience worthwhile. The concept alone is unpleasant enough, and some scenes are genuinely difficult to sit through. I'm not against disturbing horror when it has something meaningful to say, but this felt more like an exercise in pushing boundaries. Definitely not a film I enjoyed, and honestly, I'd recommend just avoiding it. See more Read all reviews
