Audience Reviews for Hurricane Season

They Turned a Tragedy Into a Triumph.

Based upon a true story this movie was good. I wasn't expecting much but the story was decent. I can't really say it was inspirational to me but I bet for the people in New Orleans it truly was. I love basketball movies so I gave it a try.

A year after Hurricane Katrina, Al Collins, a high school basketball coach in Marrero, Louisiana, assembles a team of players who had previously attended five different schools before the disaster and leads them on the path to the state championships.

This movie made me think about how great people are when they resolve to do the extraordinary in the face of tremendous adversity. Hurricane Season puts you in New Orleans before and after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina and showed how people's lives were turned upside down. Amidst the wreckage and chaos dealt by the hurricane, Al Collins, a high school basketball coach (and devoted husband and father) driven by past failures and a consuming desire to win gathers players from those ravaged schools and builds a team worthy enough to go to the state championships. The Movie highlights the resiliency from these young men who had the desire and fortitude to pick up and start over again.
Cast: Forest Whitaker, Taraji P. Henson, Isaiah Washington, Courtney B. Vance, Robbie Jones, Shad Moss aka Bow Wow, Jackie Long, Eric Hill, Jarod Einsohn and Lil' Wayne.

Nice little film based on the true story of a Katrina-ravished high school basketball team and their incredible rise to the state finals! Strong performances from Whitaker, and company, especially Robbie Jones as Brian Randolph.
