But the plot sounded just interesting enough to give it a chance, and that decision paid off big time. This turns out to be one of his strongest performances in years. Danny Collins is a burned-out, over-the-top rock star who has spent decades drowning in fame, excess, and bad choices. Then one unexpected event forces him to actually stop and look at the mess he’s made of his life. Instead of doubling down, he chooses to change. That decision sends him on an emotional journey to fix broken relationships and become a better person. It is not perfect, it is not easy, and that is exactly why it feels real. The movie pulls you in from the very beginning and holds your attention all the way to the credits. It is honest, funny in places, and surprisingly touching.
