The great strength of In & Out is in individual moments more than the grand narrative arc, and if some of the attitudes on display are outdated today, that’s a hazard for any movie not written today (including Philadelphia).

It doesn’t hold up in spots. The students sticking up for Howard was sweet. Howard’s mother wanted a wedding and she had a vow renewal. However, I don’t get the big fuss with Cameron. Everyone was obsessed with him and he outed Howard to the nation. It did have stereotypes but it was a farce at the same time, so that needed to be taken into consideration.

Cringy to the max, sorry. This was a confection designed by straight people, for straight people, consisting of an exhausting litany of tired stereotypes in a clumsy attempt to seem 'with it' and 'open minded.' A ridiculous fantasy ignoring the real lived experiences of gay people. It pushes abhorrent idea that a life of internal struggle can be instantly transformed into an ecstatic freedom by simply clicking one's heels together three times and 'coming out.' Nothing about sex - it's more like a gay version of the Barbie movie. Painfully unconvincing. And the 'Spartacus' ending was so tacked-on -- ugh, A terrible waste of a bunch of good talent.

This is definitely one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. How could you go wrong with a cast like this? Debbie Reynolds, Walter Blimley, Kevin Kline, Tom Sellick, and Bob Newhart. Many laugh out loud moments in this well written smart script. Well worth watching and a really enjoyable way to spend an evening.

An out-and-out comedy. In & Out is a 1997 American comedy film directed by Frank Oz 🏫 It’s good 🙂 Worth a watch. I’d recommend it if you like this genre 👍🏼 S A midwestern teacher questions his sexuality after a former student makes a comment about him at the Academy Awards.
