Alex F @Syrup 23h The movie itself is alright given the emotional impacts that were felt between the characters in the heat of battle, makes them all feel like family under the intense pressure of combat with the hope of making it out. But the combat scenes were very unrealistic. Bullet wounds are no joke, there is not a single chance in real combat you are not surviving multiple bullets to every part of your body on top of RPG rounds exploding practically on top of you, and just running around like they just sprained their ankles. That doesn't happen. And ROEs (Rules of engagement) change all the time, depends on what the mission is, so I can't speak on that. But overall the non-combat scenes were alright. Just wish military-like movies would at least put a little more effort into showing what real military combat looks like. These guys are getting shot full of bullet holes in critical body parts and just walking around like it is a stubbed toe and acting like gaping wide wounds full of blood vessels leaking is a matter of willpower. They use bad Call of Duty player tactics. Dozens of RPGs are fired landing one inch beside men to zero effect. Worst of all the laws of war are falsely represented. In reality civilian radio operators are considered to be directly taking part in hostilities by transmitting tactical targeting data for an attack. If the world hates America it is not going to be because a soldier tied up a goat herder with a Taliban radio. Where the movie struggles is in its structure. Instead of a fully developed narrative arc, it often feels like a series of intense combat moments stitched together. While the action is raw and brutal, it becomes repetitive, limiting emotional growth and long-term impact. Technically, the film is competent, with realistic combat and harsh terrain, but it rarely elevates itself visually or thematically. Ultimately, Lone Survivor is respectful, engaging in the moment, and worth watching, but it lacks the depth and memorability needed to make it truly rewatchable.
