Miracle Mile starts conventionally enough, with bashful musician Anthony Edwards going ga-ga over waitress Mare Winningham. After a pleasant if somewhat quirky day together, Edwards and Winningham plan a tete-a-tete at the all-night restaurant where the girl works. While preparing to call her on a pay phone, Edwards intercepts a frantic call from a soldier stationed at a Midwestern missile silo. The message: nuclear warheads have been launched, and it's only 70 minutes to Armageddon! This unsettling news casts severe doubts over the future of Edwards' and Winningham's relationship. … More

Critic Reviews for Miracle Mile
By focusing one frantic couple's attempts to salvage their future together it channels Cold War anxieties into something beautiful.
Mile still packs a wallop, especially when everything goes to hell and our lovers are forced to confront their mortality. The gorgeous, unbearable feeling of doom that De Jarnatt evokes is, well, miraculous.
Holy God, somebody showed me this depressing on my birthday long ago. I decided afterwards they didn't like me very much.
Ridiculous nuclear holocaust tale
A magnificent movie.....you'll never forget it...Anthony Edwards is amazing
ethereal and memorable
Surprisingly good little film, if too bleak to be any fun.
A strikingly original, if relentlessly bleak, nuclear thriller.
A low-key and unsettling look at one possible armageddon.
Audience Reviews for Miracle Mile
I picked this film to watch because of Mykelti Williamson, he was in two episodes of Miami Vice and I now want to watch all his films, In this movie he plays a very funny but short part. His performance is worth 4 stars. The movie itself is about a man who takes a call at a phone booth and is warned of a upcoming nuclear attack on Los Angeles, which will happen in 50 minutes, and in that time he must find his girlfriend and leave town, so starts the boring film, the only highlight is the performance by Mykelti Williamson. This one is worth 2 1/2 stars;More
Dream-like story of a man's attempt to escape from a nuclear missile attack on LA. Plus a Tangerine Dream soundtrack.More
Space filler at one time on the old Movie Networks. This film has high ambitious and a ridiculously low budget. As a result, everything takes place somewhere else. It can work. What is not seen is often horrific..but it doesn't work here.More
