Lariste L @RT70611960 Feb 12 Not truly great. The "enigma" of Morrissey has always been attached to that era of post-punk/indie 80s nostalgia, and Morrissey's persona as a kindof of dark, sullen and occasionally witty, um, crooner. This album - honestly - features some pretty off production values and a lot of shots of Steven Morrissey singing a selection mostly from his "solo album" years, a string of albums that could be described as very white, self-pitying but nevertheless saved by a kind of elegant charm. That charm is mostly missing here, as aging Morrissey appears onstage with slick, but also oddly faceless tracks that sound a little like the Bowie/Roxy school of British pop minus the character or vitality. The live performances are: OK - Morrissey sings in tune and the tracks he presents meant something once, but there's something oddly forced and un-engaging about the live material here; it's mediocre really. See more 11/06/2013 I liked it- I don't think it's the best concert of his I've ever seen, but his heart was in it and he knew that this would be a legacy type of concert, so if you're a Smith's/Moz fan, very likely something you will want to own. Highlight's included Speedway, Please, Please, Please, Maladjusted, Meat is Murder, The Boy with the thorn in his side- all done as well as Moz can deliver them. The downside to me were the incessant fawning fans acting like he'd descended from Heaven. Julia actually thanked him for, "living." A little over the top, but that's Moz fans for you. That said, seeing this concert in Blu-Ray and with hi-def audio can give you a sense of what it might have been like to have had a front row seat at the show, and for the price they are asking, it's truly a steal.
