Seeking vengeance when his partner (Simpson) is shot full of holes by drug dealers, Lt. Frank Drebin searches for the Mister Big behind it all. Drebin suspects above-reproach shipping magnate Vincent Ludwig, but he can't prove a thing. Bumped from the force by the mayor, Drebin, with the unexpected assistance of Ludwig's ex-girlfriend, manages to nab the bad guy at a baseball game, where Reggie Jackson has been programmed to assassinate Queen Elizabeth.

Not quite up to Airplane! or Top Secret!, but there are still laughs aplenty.
The Naked Gun is crass, broad, irreverent, wacky fun -- and absolutely hilarious from beginning to end.
High spirits may be all that a film like this really needs.
The film is as transparent as a third-grader with a water gun, and yet I would rather review a new film by Ingmar Bergman, for there, at least, would be themes to discuss and visual strategies to analyze.
The Naked Gun is still very funny more than 20 years later. Leslie Nielsen is awesome, and the gags are more hit than miss.
It would have been nothing without Leslie Nielsen, but this was one of the funniest slapstick comedies of the 1980s.
Bawdy, dumb-humor classic spoofs '80s cop dramas.
...sometimes mildly amusing, often laugh-out-loud funny, tears-to-the-eyes comical, fall-down-on-the-floor hysterical. (Blu-ray edition)
...still a hilarious movie, and anyone with a funny bone in his body will probably find it amusing.
Nielsen in particular is superb, cracking his façade for only the biggest of jokes.
The Naked Gun is a continuous stream of verbal and visual gags that come so fast, you don't have time to realize how bad/old/corny they are.
The endlessly tasteless juvenilia should make you ashamed of laughing yourself into a stupor.
A comedy classic.
Nielsen perfectly embodies Drebin with the kind of deadpan seriousness that's essential to making well-written one-liners and situations seem ten times as funny.
One of the greatest comedies ever made. The laughs don't stop.
Hi-larious. Shame about the sequels.
The Naked Gun is the daddy of parody movies. Along with Leslie's previous film "Airplane!". Its usually the amount of slapstick that breaks comedy films. This film however is the rare film that is made by it.

While the Zucker/Abrahams/Zucker team had already showed what their humor is capable of in "Airplane!" and "Top Secret" they finally got the recognition they deserved with this mother of all cop comedies. Of course Leslie Nielsen turned out to be the perfect leading man with his stoic impressions even in the midst of
