Spanish filmmaker Emilio Martinez-Lazaro directs the musical comedy El Otro Lado De La Cama (The Wrong Side of the Bed). The farcical story involves the romantic betrayals and couplings between Pedro (Guillermo Toledo), Paula (Natalia Verbeke), Javier (Ernesto Alterio), and Sonia (Paz Vega). When Paula breaks up with Pedro, he hires a private detective, Sagaz (Ramon Barea), to follow her. She's really dating Javier, who tries to get Pedro to date Pilar (Maria Esteve). A movie in which insufferable yuppies boogie away inside the bubble of their own emotional immaturity. Truly, this is the unhinged joy of the deeply oblivious.
Martinez-Lazaro's blend of erotic farce and Europop musical is so blandly slick and skin-cream deep, it barely leaves an impression, never mind anything to embrace.

...a breezy and fun ride that's enjoyable but instantly forgettable.
After a while, the innocence of style of the musical begins to grow on you.

Frequently pleasant and boasting an appealing young cast.
Caught up in the spirit and energy inherent in the musical, the beautiful bed-hopping twentysomethings of The Other Side of the Bed wake up in a lighthearted screwball musical.
A flimsy attempt to revive the largely moribund musical genre.
A lightweight but highly enjoyable romantic farce.
This is the fascinating Spanish sexy romantic comedy... with a musical twist. Sparklingly clever and funny, this is a relationships comedy in an almost opera bouffe style with a measured dose of slapstick. Music - songs with funny lyrics (I'm happy it shows in English subtitles) - and sprightly choreography more than
