While Scott Calvin (Allen) initially had mixed feelings when he became the new Santa Claus, after eight years on the job he's come to enjoy being Father Christmas, and he and the Elves are looking forward to another holiday season when things begin going a bit wrong. The scenes in which Fake Santa torments the elves with a toy soldier army are twisted enough to make it worth sticking around through the mawkish courtship.

The Santa Clause 2 is a barely adequate babysitter for older kids, but I've got to give it thumbs down.

Amazingly, the film juggles all the elements well without being messy, instead playing fair and tying up all the loose ends.

The script for SC2...is not perfect, but with Allen's help it delivers more hits than misses.

Although November 1 seems a bit early to get into the Christmas spirit, even for the most ardent holiday fanatics ... The Santa Clause 2 is enough to set any scrooge aglow with the X-mas bug.

Audience Reviews for The Santa Clause 2 - The Mrs. Clause

So what do you do when your Kid has the inability to grasp the simplest of lessons, even though you go to great lengths to teach them? You make a robot of yourself that turns into a Nazi due to rushed programming and teach the youth of today that love and marriage should be rushed and for all the wrong reasons. That 800 year old Head Elf sure aged in the last 8 years too, it's almost as if it is all nonsense or something....

Being the sequel to one of my favourite Christmas movies, I dreaded that this would tarnish my good memories of the original. But as much as I prepared myself for a suck-fest beyond measure, I quickly came to discover that my fears were unfounded. Sure, the script is about as thick as a ginger bread man, and yes, there's an abundance of random goofing around. But the spirit and joy of the original is still pretty much intact. Santa's workshop remains vibrant with fun activity, and although a few ornaments short of an epic Christmas tree, it's sufficiently entertaining and even touching at times. More with kudos to the cast though, than due to any other element. So for a follow-up with such a weak and skeletal plot, this was far from ho-ho-horrible.

Stupid, but good for completely mindless entertainment. I LOVED the first one as a kid - so strange to see everyone so much older in this one.
